Night 3 of sleep training- not so good

He laid down and fell asleep in 50 min last night. We are approaching one hour and he is still howling. I hate these check ins. I am sick to my stomach and just want to scoop him up but I know it's the worst thing since I don't want the past 2 night to be for nothing. BIG ::sigh::

  • 2nd night is generally the worst; for us the first night was the worst.  Hang in there Mama - just a little while longer and then weeks of good sleep for everyone. ..

Thank you. I hope so. Trying so hard to stay busy. Nothing on TV. DH and I are just looking at each other and this damn book (Sleep Easy Solution) and the clock. DS slept 8pm -4am straight last night. NEVER did he sleep that long without waking! I could have ran a marathon at 5am this morning with all my rest. There is a greater good but I'm having trouble with it in this moment.

  • You can do it!  It's tough, but SOOOO worth it!  Remember, they're stubborn at this age! :)

  • You can do it!  Stay strong!  It is all worth it in the end.

If he is calming down, you don't have to go into his room at the interval.  it will just rile him up more.

It took DS about 10 days and now, it is AWESOME.  He goes down awake, flips over onto his tummy.  Sticks his thumb in his mouth, closes his eyes, and we don't hear a peep until morning.

  • SES also speaks of an "extinction burst' possibility. We experienced it after 2 nights STTN- she was up every 2 hours screaming for an hour. Hang in there if that happens- they're just testing us!!
  • you can do it! Think about it.....having the evenings to yourself, sleeping 8 hrs through the night, waking rested...it is soooooooo worth it. And your kid will also have better days because of it too.

Most of us have made it through and know the pain and joy it brings...trust me, you won't regret it!
