I remember having a "boyfriend" and drawing hearts together on the easel. And fighting over the special scissors since I'm a lefty. That's about it though.
Oh, and I was pissed because we didn't have a cap and gown for our ceremony. We had a little sash instead.

I loved eating glue. My son is in K and they are doing reports already! I just can't believe some of the work he brings home.
I teach kindergarten, that is why I am asking. Yes, the things these kids are expected to do by the end is crazy. Most of my students come in speaking little to no English and they are expected to be reading by the end of the year.

I like it though. It makes them work harder and they are not just singing ABC's all day. My son is a pretty smart kid, he is one of the best readers in his class, however, my daughter, now she doesn't catch on to things as fast as him and she will be in K next year. I am worried about it.
I did not like that I never got to be the "wake up fairy" after nap time. The quietest kids got picked to walk around and tap each kid on the back with a wand. Apparently I was never quiet.
And about kindergarden! I remember my best friend who always got in trouble, so I asked to be in detention with her. Which was staying inside for lunch.

My favorite part was snack time.
Amazing that I turned out so well
The amazing part is we no longer have nap or snack time!
My kid was born 2 days after kindergarten cut off. I was already having a scheduled c/s since he was breech, so I asked the OB to do it on Dec 1. He wouldn't, and now I have to finagle getting him into school. I'd be fine if he missed it by 2 weeks or so, but because DS was born on Dec 3 I need to pay for a year's worth of daycare? Bull crap I tell you.

I know! My mom teaches K and the first time I went to her room I said, "where area all the toys!?" She just laughed.

We have early testing for kids who are close? I wonder if you school district has something?

Nope, I know someone born on Dec. 2, and no dice. I'm a fan of private school anyway so hopefully we can afford it and they'll be more accommodating.

My favorite part (that I remember) was when my teacher had the class recite the days of the week. And the kids who would recite them all in the correct order, either got a sticker or a stamp in the hand. I always wanted the stickers because they were those huge scratch and sniff ones.

I remember my first day, telling my mom she didn't have to get out of the car and walk me to my class. My poor mom, I probably broke her heart that day. I also remember laughing so hard one day while eating a banana and drinking milk that it came out my nose.

I remember chasing down a boy I liked and cornering him by the lockers to kiss him. Then I proceeded to chase him across the room kissing the back of his neck. My teacher, Sister Mary Ann, was not too pleased.
I also remember writing a non-fiction book about African & Asian Elephants and the cover was made from wallpaper...I still have it somewhere.
Sorry no paragraphs, posting from iPhone. I remember lots of things. I remember hating naptime because I didn't nap, but I had to lie quietly anyway. I rememer my teacher yelling at us that "lmnop" is not one letter. I remember that my teacher wrote my name on the board once after recess (this was your first warning that you did something wrong). I didn't know what I did wrong, so I asked. My teacher said "you know what you did." I asked again, and she said "if you ask me again, I'm giving you a checkmark. I didn't want a checkmark, so I didn't ask anymore. To this day I have no idea what I did wrong. I remember that one time I fell down outside on the way to recess and scraped up my thigh pretty bad. I was afraid to tell my teacher, and then later in the day she saw it and got mad at me for not telling her. I remember being bored doing matching worksheets (one side of the sheet had letters and the other had pictures of things that started with those letters). Instead of drawing a straight line, I made it more fun by connecting things with long squiggly lines. I got in trouble for that too. I remember asking my teacher how to spell words because I wanted to get it right, but she wouldn't ever tell me. Can you tell that I didn't like my teacher too much? I also remember there was a kid named Walter who always wanted to trade pencils. And my best friend was named marianne, but I called her Mary-man. My very favorite thing was when it was my turn to help go get the cart of snacks from the cafeteria and bring it back to the classroom.
I remember kindergarten because I was an Army brat and went to 3 different ones. The first was in upstate New York where I was the only non white person in the entire school. My only friend was my teacher. I remember memorizing some catholic prayer that I've since forgotton.
My second kindergarten was near my grandmother's house. We were staying there temporarily while my dad found work after finishing up in the military. I remember that we had nap times and that one person would be chosen as the "waking fairy." The person would get to go around and tap people with a wand and wear a tiara/crown. I never got chosen.
My third kindergarten was at the school near the apartment we'd live in for a couple of years in a less desirable neighborhood. My dad decided to go back to school while my mom worked a retail job, so money was tight. It was actually my favorite one. I remember dropping my crayons one day on the way to to lunch and a boy named Mario helping me pick them up. As we got the last crayons in the box, he leaned over and kissed my cheek.

Playing kitchen and fighting over who was the mommy and who was the baby.
And the teddy bear day.
