Baby Showers

It is probably a good guess that...

I am not going to get anything off of my registry for my baby shower! :-(  I had thought of a last minute thing I needed to add to my registry today (my baby shower is next Saturday) so I signed on to edit it and saw that only 2 things were "fulfilled" out of like 50.  I would think a week beforehand some more stuff would have gone?  I don't even know how this registry stuff works?  Anybody else know?  TIA  :-)

  • do not stress....almost everyone buys stuff the day before or the day of the shower. Just have faith and trust me you will be suprised! Most people procrastinate.

  • I know that a lot of people don't buy things until right before the shower (sometimes day of).  I haven't had my shower yet, but most of my family just buys you whatever they think is cute.  Most of the time it is clothes, blankets, or toys.  I have heard that this happens a lot at baby showers.

  • I'm with PPs. As an attendee of baby showers I often did not buy gifts till the day before. Don't look- be surprised! :)
  • Usually, at the earliest, I'm shopping a week before!

  • If your shower is on Saturday, I would be shopping Friday afternoon. If it's on Sunday, I'd be shopping Saturday morning. I think most people are like me!
  • Remember a registry is a guide. There is no rule they have to buy from it or buy anything at all.

I usually shop the day of the party.

Things were not really purchased off of mine until about three days before.  Just wait... people usually don't buy until the shower gets really close.

  • Im a big procrastinator, so I shop a day or two before, dont worry!
  • From my experience, a lot of people wait until the last minute, and some people even didn't bother to get what they bought checked off the registry.  They looked up what we needed and bought it, but didn't have the cashier scan the registry.  It'll all work out, don't worry.  Plus, at least you aren't having a girl, right?  I have friends who have had baby girls and when they had showers everyone ignored the registry and just bought clothes.  With a boy you have a little better chance of getting what you need.

I am acutally team green.  So it kind of makes things hard on people.  But my DH & I don't want to know.  :-)  I guess most people will just procrastinate.  I'm sure everything will work out.  :-)

  • I'm with the pp... I'm a procrastinator and sometimes I don't buy the gift until I am on the way to the shower!  also, some stores aren't too good at marking things as purchased on the registry so there might be more purchased than you can see.

  • Registries aren't always perfect.  My friend did so at Babiesrus and most of the stuff was bought off her registry but NOT removed.

Try not to worry to much about it:)

  • My shower's the same day as yours. I'm in the same situation. Most people usually do things last minute. Don't stress to much, I'm trying not to either.

  • My shower is next weekend, too.  While I do have a lot of stuff gone from mine, only a few little things came off it this week.  My hubby made the point that people are busy enjoying a holiday weekend and don't want to be stuck inside shopping.  He thinks people will shop for us the nights this week or Saturday since our shower is Sunday.  GL with your shower!  :)

  • I usually buy the gift on my way to the shower. And then sit in front of where ever the shower is being held wrapping the present! I do this for birthdays too. To say I am lazy is an understatement.
  • My shower is June 5th and no one has bought anything from my registry either. This is a 65 person shower by the way. I have received a few early gifts already (that I opened), which have all been clothes. I am worried that since we are having a girl we are going to get 50 dresses from fancy boutiques with no way to exchange them for items/equipment we really need. I am very grateful for everything but find it a bit frustrating that when people think "baby girl" they think adorable dress rather than bottles, car seats, blankets and diapers. My mother warned me of this. Anyone else having this same problem?
  • my shower is next weekend and I hardly have anything off of my registry.  Who knows?  Lots of people are last minute shoppers
