I need a nanny

And was hoping to avoid the fees associated with an agency, but I might not have any other choice.

So far I haven't had any luck looking.

Anyone have any idea on where I could find one besides an agency?  I was looking for someone to come to our home.

Worse case scenario, I might have to call the agency, Nanny Poppinz.

Re: I need a nanny

  • When I was a nanny a couple years ago, I got the job via craigslist. Thing is, I would never do that myself to hire one - would freak the crap out of me.

Sorry, this doesn't really help you. Huh?

I did this too. Also, my most recent job I found on sittercity.com- free to sign up and use, you only pay if you want a background check of your potential hire. GL!

  • I have used craigs list, sitter city and an agency.  I have to search again soon because my nanny is going to start student teaching.  I really don't know what to do this time.  I really hate doing this.  I just saw the nanny poppinz ad.  How does it work?  And do people have good results with it?  I really wish I could find a REAL nanny not just someone who doesn't lknow what they want to do.  Any ideas on how to find a REAL nanny????
  • Try ENannySource.com and GreatAupair.com.  I'm a nanny and have found jobs through both of these sites.  Also, I've worked with a nanny agency before and FYI they found me on the websites I gave you. :)  You are basically paying them a fee to find a nanny on nanny websites where you could find them yourself.
  • We just recently found our nanny through Craig's List.  I was confident enough hiring her through calling all her references and her jobs were recent, so I didn't feel like I needed to go through an agency.  With the economy lately, I definitely felt like I had very strong candidates with good childcare backgrounds.  A lot of the time they are former daycare workers.  Good luck!
