name help please

So, we were 99% sure about our boy name. We were going to go with Andrew and call him Drew (DH is Andrew), but I am not sure anymore. I confused myself wondering if when I buy things with his name if I buy an "A" or a "D". I know this must sound silly, but it is really bugging me. Then I started thinking do we just name him Drew? Please tell me your thoughts.

    I would name him Drew ... it's still a lovely nod to your DH.

    Personally, i hate it when people name their kid one name and then call them a nickname from day one. Why not go with the nickname that you plan on calling him/her? I don't get it. So, i would just go with Drew if you are already planning on calling him that.

    We gave serious thought to the name Drew.  I have the same feelings about naming your child what you are planning to call them.  Good luck!

    So i guess i have a different point of view on this. We are naming our little boy John Patrick. We are going to call him JP because he is being named after both of our fathers.

    As far as buying thing with his name on it. I have gone both ways. It just depends on what I'm buying.

    I actually don't like it when people use a nick name as a kids actual given name. My DH is also an Andrew. He went by Andy growing up (and his family still mostly call him Andy), but he now goes by Andrew in most all situations, even with close friends. He says that despite growing up as an 'Andy' he thinks of himself as an 'Andrew' and introduces himself accordingly.

    Naming a kid a full name, then calling him by a nick name gives him options as he grows up to be called whichever he feels comfortable with. Most people I know go by their full names professionally and with acquaintances, then go by their nick name with close friends and family.
