DS spent a while in the emergency room yesterday - warning this is kinda gross!

DH had the kids at a playground, DS was on one of those wiggle bridges and fell down. ?He bit damn near all the way through his tongue. ?He did it length-wise, so he looks a bit like a snake w/a forked tongue right now. ?I guess they just let tongues heal by themselves and don't stitch them b/c they heal so fast (we got 3 opinions on this one, they all agreed). ?

So he can't talk, can't eat, we have to force the motrin down his throat, he holds his spit/drool in because it hurts to swallow, and then lets a big gob of it go when it's full. ?We had to throw out his clothes and DH's clothes because of all the blood. ?

How awful! Poor baby!

When I was younjg, I bit my tongue and they did stitch it. I don't remember a lot from the experience except that I FREAKED once I saw the needle they were going to use on me and had to be papoosed. Once I was numb, I was fine with what they were doing, but getting me there was traumatic. I'm glad he doesn't have to go through that.

I hope it heals quickly!

They said about a week and it would be mostly healed. ?Our freezer is full of icecream and popsicles, we made jello and have a ton of yogurt.

He had 3 bowls of icecream for dinner last night, it was the first thing he'd eaten since 8am lol

He's trying to talk so that's good. ?Just.. OMG

Oh no, poor little guy! I can't believe they don't stitch that but it is probably for the best. Stitches are no fun.

Aw poor guy!!! I did the same thing when I was 2ish. FWIW my tounge fully healed and there was barely a scar there. I did more damage by piercing my tounge than when I almost bit it in half. They also didn't do anything for me-no stitches or anything. I hope B feels better quick!!

OMG, the forked tongue... that poor guy!

When I was one I fell down some stairs and my tongue was almost cut off and they didn't stitch it - apparently tongues heal super fast on their own, although I'm sure it will feel like forever for you guys. Good luck - hope he enjoys his popsicle diet at least!
