Hello!! Although I won't be joining you guys for a few more weeks, I hope you can help me! How many bottles do you guys go through a day? I'm not sure how many to have on hand nor what sizes are best.
i like the 8 oz ones b/c when LO is older and eats more my bottles will still work. Vs the 4-5 oz ones and when LO eventually needs 8 oz i dont have to refill.
If bottle feeding my LO all day the first few wks he ate 8 times per day so i would have at least 8 bottles so you can get through a whole day (but i personally like to have more so if its a bad day i can go 1 1/2 days). Also some babies like some bottles better than others
I have a lot of bottles. We had lots of problems at first so i had to pump. So I have 9 medela bottles (that i pump into), 6 dr browns normal (that i pump into / this is what we started feeding him with) The I was told to try the wider mouth bottles to help him learn to open wider for nursing (which did help) so I have 10 wide mouth 8 oz bottles (born free and wide mouth dr browns)
I also have 3 tommee tee bottles that LO doesn't like very well. But will take if we run out of clean bottles.
I have 9 4 oz bottles an we use them all in a day. I use the Playtex drop-ins, so luckily washing them isn't too labor intensive. I wish we had a couple more, though. I am tired of washing them every day!

I know it's temping to go out and buy a bunch of bottles but seriously hold off. We have 3 or 4 bottles of 4 different brands and of course she will only take one kind so the others really were a waste of money. You may want to just buy 1 bottle of say 3-4 brands to start just to figure out what your LO will like and then just send your DH out to buy more of those once you get going. We are breastfeeding and started introducing bottles at 3 weeks and so far out of the First Years Breastflows, Medelas, First Years Soothies bottles, and Playtex Nursers the only ones she likes are the Playtex ones. We do 1-2 bottles a day in addition to regular breastfeeding she gets.

This!! I registered for Avents and got the starter pack and DD didn't really take to them too well. I also have evenflo, playtex drop ins and Dr Browns. She does the best w/ the Dr. Browns but they are PITA if you don't have a dishwasher...lots of parts to wash. I would definitely experiment before stocking up! GL!
I exclusively pump. I think we go through 8-12 per day. LO usually eats 2 oz but sometimes he eats 4 during. I never know when that's going to be though. I make 2 oz bottles. Sometimes he gets 2 bottles in 1 feeding. I like using 4 oz bottles. Since LO still doesn't eat much these bottles are a lot smaller and easier to use right now. I know that soon I'll have to buy bigger bottles though.

This as well. PLEASE don't go out and buy a ton of bottles. We registered for Playtex Drop-Ins and Dr. Brown's, so we got about 10 of each. LO doesn't do well on either. It's a waste having so many useless bottles around and there is no way to predict what your LO will do well on. If you're breast-feeding, Born Free and Tommy Tippee are recommended often. If you're not, Dr. Brown wide and Playtex are very popular. None of these worked for us though, so it's really a wait and see game.
I'd also advise not even buying any 4 oz or 5 oz bottles, only buy the big ones. My LO is 10 weeks and at about 6 weeks he started drinking 5 oz., so the 4 oz. bottles became a complete waste. I wasn't about to re-make another bottle after finishing this one (he wouldn't be patient enough for that).
We have 10 bottles. Four of them are 5 oz and the rest are 10 oz. Even though he won't use them for very long, I like having a few 5 oz because they are easier to fit into the diaper bag.
