One less toy that he's interested in. When I put him on it now, he could give a sh*t about the animals, songs, etc. He flips over onto his tummy, tries to crawl, fails, and then fusses.
At this point the only toy he really digs is the Exersaucer but I need to get some variety going... What toys do you recommend?? There are so many available, I want to make sure that I'm putting my money towards something good.
We have a doorway jumper but he's not quite ready for it...
Re: He's Over His Activity Mat...
I know, it was a sad, sad day in my household. I have tried it on him several times since and he's got no interest. He used to LOVE it and would sit there for up to 20-30 minutes looking at and grabbing everything. No more. Now it's just the exersaucer and he loves the thing so much, I'm tempted to go buy a second, different one, just for some variety but they're pricey. I'm debating...
Looking for ideas for other toys to give him more variety during the day...?
DD is most entertained by lots of time on the floor. I just cycle toys in and out. She's really into balls (or really anything she can grab and shove in her mouth!).
We also spend lots of time "talking", singing, looking at stuff around the house, etc. It doesn't have to be a "toy" to be fun for baby!
Maybe I just need to get some more little toys for him to play with. He's got sevearl sets of keys, a "crunch" book, a couple little teethers. He doesn't really "study" them, though. He just shoves them in his mouth while he looks around for something else to do.
I was going to pick up Sophie but then read some pretty scary reviews about babies choking on the legs and what not, so that's out.
I have a basket that I stash things in to amuse LO. Just things that I can randomly grab and put out for her to handle.
Based on heuristic play, I aim to give her things that stimulate different senses. So an old CD disc, a rubber ball, a cardboard soap box for its scent, an apple (that doesn't live in the box) wooden blocks, things that crinkle like an empty nappy wipes packet etc etc
Obviously some of these things require supervision ut that's ok, I'm just trying to engage her and teach her about the world without costing an armand a leg, because she gets bored of somethings easily.
One toy she loves is a fabric book. It has crinkle pages, bright pictures, a plastic handle and tabs she can chew on and rings that slide up and down the handle that rattle. So it ticks a lot of the boxes and she entertains herself with it endlessly.
She can lie on her back with it, or have it front of her when she's on her tummy and reach for it.

Just googled Heuristic play.... very interesting. Sounds like it's time for me to start a collection of random household items for Jackson to play with... thanks!
I have a bouncer that my DS loves because I can switch out the toys with other toys that dangle. He got quite bored of the ones that actually came with the bouncer so now I have one on there that crinkles and vibes when he pulls it.
He also enjoys a mirror I have for him, soft blocks, puppets, Baby Einsteins "baby tunes" and "take along ball".
If you are nervous about purchasing Sofie because of the legs there are always Sofie's Cousins, they are made of the same material and my DS still loves it. I got him "Chan" the blue one. (they are also cheaper)
Also out of all his toys what I have found he loves the most is just reading time, his favorite book is Grumpy Bird, he tries to turn the pages and loves looking at the colors.
We have a jumperoo and an exersaucer for DS.He loves both! The exersaucer was free from a friend of mine who's DD grew out of. I would check craig's list or even yard sales to see if you can find anything. Just give them a good cleaning before you use them!
The rolling over is not fun.
I just put him down for a nap. He was sleeping fine. He is now fussing on the monitor and abou tto start all-out crying. The reason for this, I can tell you before I even go in there, is because he flippe donto his tummy in his sleep and now the pacifier has fallen out.
It's great. I'll go in and put him on his back again, he'll flip over again, same thing will happen.
