stripping membranes

Hello all!

I had my 40 week appt today and I was still 75% effaced and head is engaged at 0 still and 1 cm dialated finally so the Dr tried to strip my membranes per my request.  It hurt a bit but she was able to get in and do the job.

 Have any of you had this done and if so was it successful did you go into labor shortly after?  It seems like from what I read if it does work I should know within the next 24-72 hours!

    I had it done with my first but our induction was set for less than 24hours from that time, so it of course didn't do much!  Hope it works for you!

    I had this done with my first - it didnt work at all.  I was already 3cm dialated too.  I was induced 2 days after my due date.

    It worked with my first pregnancy.  I started having contractions right away and DS was born less than 24 hours later.  I had it done wednesday and it didn't work this time.

    I had it done about 8:30 this morning.  No labor yet but I have had some bloody show.  I am scheduled for an induction tomorrow night so I really hope this jump starts things!

    I have been bleeding pretty good since the procedure and cramping up really good.  I hope it works!

    I had it done last week at 38 weeks. When I was checked this week, I hadn't progressed at all. Doc couldn't even get a finger far enough through the opening to strip them again. Ugh!

    Mine were stripped a week ago when I was 1 cm 50% effaced.  Still pregnant.  I have an appointment today and I believe she is going to try again.  I'm hoping for at least some progress!!!

    Hey, I'm lurking form 0-3.  I hate to be a debbie downer, but I had my membranes stripped 5 times with no success.  Honestly, LO isn't going to come until s/he is ready or you're induced.  GL and hope to see you there soon.

    ETA:  I also had some cramping and bloody discharge every time.

    it was successfully for me with ds. i was barely 1cm dilated & closed at 39w. had it done that day & my water broke 12 hours later. ds was born less than 24 hours after the procedure.
