Having difficulty keeping DS cool in the car, any advice?

With the air on full blast DS still gets sweaty and red. His car seat blocks the two vents that go to the back. Is there anything I can do for him? I was thinking of finding a cheap clip fan to put on the seat belts by the door and facing it to him. If we're in an accident though, I don't want it to hit him.

  • I am in the same boat, we are at 95 degrees today and my air con just can't keep up!   Have you tried a pull down shade on your window?  A clip on fan might work too.  I have started using my sunscreen shield when we are in and out of our car to try to keep the inside cool in parking lots.

  • I can try getting a shade, but there's no area in my parking lot that isn't in the sun. We have one of the suction cup shades but it doesn't stay up and the clinging one fell down as well. Is there a different type that might work?

I've been begging for it and even did some odd jobs to pay for it but DH is really against it because it's $200

  • i have the shades that pop out like 2 big circles that the sunvisors hold up and it stays up.  we also got remote start this winter to get the car warm for DS.  DH installed it himself and gets them at a discount b/c he  works at bestbuy part time... we still spent $200 on it and totally worth it.

Love the remote start.  So worth the money.  Winter or summer.

  • I live in Phx so I know exactly what you're talking about.  I got a carseat cover to put in DS seat when we're not in the car.  The cover keeps the seat and buckles cold and the ice packs last forever, an entire day of shopping.  It doesn't do much to keep him cool while he's in the seat but he's more comfortable for a longer duration because his seat doesn't heat him up.  You can find it at, www.babybeecool.com.  GL!
