2nd (or more) time moms..Q re: labor

I'll be 37w tomorrow and despite lots of BH & cramping and loose stools for a week now, I've had no changes to my cervix yet. I was induced with my first @ 39w, so I'm not familiar with water breaking/timing contractions/etc...I'm just wondering, with your second, did you gradually have changes to your cervix or did your water break and you just went into labor right away?

I guess I'm a little discouraged that I haven't had any changes yet, I'm SO ready for her to get here!!

    Well, with my first my water broke at 34 weeks. This time I hope i'm gradually dilating. I've only been checked at 33 weeks and was a fingertip dilated. I go back next thursday to see what else is going on. Good luck. I"m only a day ahead of you.

    My midwife said to take changes worth a grain of salt.  I believe it.  My sister was walking around at 4cm for 3 weeks and carried past term.  My bf had an early am appt with no dialation only to give birth that evening.  Just remember each body is different!  I am not having internals this time around so I am just going to think that I am at a 3...ha.

    with my first I was a 0 when my water broke. Granted I was 3 days overdue at that point. I never progressed past a 3. Once the water broke the contractions came on very hard (2 minutes apart and terribly painful). I really don't think progress matters. It's all so unpredictable.

    I dilated 1cm per week for 3wks before I went into 'labor' with DS.  Then my water didn't break like a gush, it just sort of trickled.

    I delivered a day before my EDD and starting at 37 weeks was dialating a cm every week and then the day before I went into labor I was 4cm (had an emergency appt as I thought my water broke).  My water never broke..but I did go into labor and my contractions were timeable right away.  Got to the hospital and was 5cm.

    Here's how it went for me...

    With #1:

    36w: 1cm & 50%

    37w: 3cm & 80%

    38w induction- started at 3cm & 100% 

    With #2:

    35w: 4cm & 70%

    36w: 5cm & 80%

    37w-39w: 6cm & 80%

    I was induced at 39w with #2.

    I had very little progress before labor with either kid....around a fingertip for both when contractions started.

    With my first, my water broke 2 days before her due date. With my DS, my water broke at 38w4d - 2 days earlier my OB said my cervix could not be any more closed so you never know!
