RP Comfort Nursing

I posted this on 0-3, but I thought you ladies might have more advice on this subject.  Is comfort nursing bad?  LO won't take a paci and I feel like a lot of the time, she's not hungry, she just wants to hang out by my boob.  Is it okay?  When is she too old to comfort nurse?  She's one month old now.

Re: RP Comfort Nursing

  • I think it's fine! My opinion is that you should go with your instinct, and if you are fine with it, then there's nothing wrong with it!

DD doesn't comfort nurse as much as DS did. Sometimes it annoyed me if I had things I wanted to do/get done, but in hindsight I really missed that once he stopped comfort nursing. Eventually he was too interested in everything else that was going on so he would nurse to eat and then be done.

It's for such a short time too, so enjoy the closeness while you have it!

  • Thank you!  I was just making sure that it was okay.  I don't really mind, except when she does it ALL day and I get nothing done, but oh well.  I'm on maternity leave and I can shower when DH gets home from work!

  • DD is the same way! I let her do it as much as I can but sometimes I have to let the swing comfort her so I can do things for my toddler. She just really prefers my boob to the paci.
