LO's feet in ribs and dilated? Maybe stupid question

Last night someone asked about those that are full term and are carrying high. LO's feet have been up in my ribs for days, but I have been dilated 1cm for a week and am 50% effaced.

Does carrying high mean anything in regards to dilation? Like would it just take longer to dilate if you are carrying high? Or is it possible the baby is just so big that his feet stretch up into my ribs even though he is technically "ready" to come? Every week at my appts the doctors/midwives are always commenting that he is going to be a big one...

Just interested to see if anyone knew anything about this.

I think I was told the first time around that it really doesn't matter how quickly you drop, it could mean something or nothing. The woman who drops and dialates 3 weeks before her due date could still go past the woman who does it all within 24 hours of her birth. Hope for your ribcage's sake that baby drops soon!

you could also have a long/tall baby as well. with ds his feet were in my ribs until he was born! lol. there isnt that much room in there even after they drop - the feet can still touch the ribs.

My baby's feet are touching my sternum they are so long! But when checked yesterday the OB said she was at zero station and could feel her head she is sooo low. So I think you might just have a long baby...guess mine has some long legs too!
