Looking for childcare

I don't like in a huge city, but it is by no means tiny either.  This being said, I need some advice as to how to go about finding childcare for my LO.  I'm open to types of care, just need to knowhow to get started.  Thanks!

  • Do you know anyone else with kids?  I think word of mouth is the best and most honest opinions of childcare.

  • I would start by calling a few either close to home or work and setting up tours. They'll show you the entire center & the room your child will be in. Im Home Child Care centers will usually do this as well.

  • Do you want a nanny, in-home care or a daycare setting? I think start there based on your family's needs and then take the next steps.

Here are some great sites for nanny/in-home care.

    www.care.com

    www.sittercity.com

    www.nannies4hire.com

    www.care4hire.com

Those are the only ones I remember off the top of my head.

I agree! We asked around to our co-workers, and went off of their recommendations.

care.com is great for us.  I got over 50 resumes for the nanny position I posted - many already had background checks complete that I had access to.
