dentist?

I just went to the dentist this morning, but they made my next appointment for Dec. 3. I will be huge then (due Jan. 14). Next time I am due for x-rays, so obviously they won't do them if I keep this appointment. My question is, should I postpone it and move it until after the baby comes so I can get the x-rays done, or just go for a regular cleaning next time and get the x-rays the next time around?

Re: dentist?

  • Is there a reason they are doing x rays? My dentist keeps trying to do x rays (I go once a year and haven't had x rays in probably 4 years) and I keep telling them no.  They don't have a reason to do them, I know exactly where my wisdom teeth are and I've never had cavities.  If they aren't necessary, I just wouldn't get them!

  • I was JUST at the dentist on Tuesday morning and they scheduled my next appt for Dec. 1.  I would be due for xrays.  They said they would just hold off on doing the x-rays until the 6 mo. checkup AFTER the Dec. 1 one, so I guess next May.  If there is no urgent need for x-rays, there should be no reason for you to go more often than necessary.  Just have them done the next time around! :)

  • Just go & get the XRays the next time around.
  • Thanks all...this helps. I have never had a cavity and my wisdom teeth were already yanked out, so there is really no issue putting the x-rays off for another 6 months.

Just curious...how do you know you don't have cavities if you never get xrays?  Cavities can easily hide in between your teeth (my main site if cavities) and they rarely hurt or make your teeth ache when they're not huge.

OP: although you can probably stall on the Xrays until later and just get the cleaning.  Skipping one round of xrays won't make your teeth fall out.  Your dentist may not want to risk the xrays in the first place.
