U/S Surprises?

I posted this in 3rd Tri as well.

So we've had 2 ultrasounds during which they've confirmed for us that our baby is a girl. However, whenever people ask us if we know what we're having, inevitably someone tells us how their cousin's/sister's/friend's ultrasound was wrong. Most of these are older people who were probably having their kiddos before technology was as good as it is now. Got me wondering though...have any of you been surprised at delivery because of an incorrect ultrasound reading? Or has anyone you know?

Yep, my cousin. They were expecting a girl and got a boy! I don't think it's that common though.

No - they were accurate...I don't know of anyone that had inaccurate u/s either.

I had a friend who was told she was having a girl. They had her shower, painted and decorated the nursery and she had even washed all the girly clothes from her shower to have ready for baby when they got home from the hospital. She had an ultrasound to check her fluid levels at 39 weeks and lo and behold they found out they were in fact having a boy....Hopefully that won't happen to you though because she was pretty stressed by the gender switch.

Not us. They said boy, and DS is certainly that. Our u/s tech told us that mistakes are more common when they say it'll be a girl. She said when she sees boy, she's usually pretty darn sure!

My BFF was told she was having a girl. Her son will be 1 next month.

I worked at a daycare before I went on quit to stay home with DS and there was a mother there that was due with her 3rd child the same day as me (May 20th). They already had two boys and this next one was going to be a girl according to the u/s. The father was so thrilled about the thought of having a daughter that at the end of April, he got the baby's name, Caina, on his forearm along with a pink/purple butterfly. Well as luck would have it, on May 15th, she went into labor and several hours later -- out popped a BOY!! OOPS! They ended up naming him Cain but I couldn't help but feel bad for dad! Poor guy has a tattoo that needs some fixing!

I know two people that this happened to, one was told boy and had a girl and one was told girl and had a boy. We didn't find out so I don't have any personal experience.

I don't know any one personally that this has happened to but I did see on a Baby Story a couple was told they were having twin boys. They ended up with twin girls! Crazy.

Odd to get the tattoo before baby makes his arrival...

OP - Like other pp said, gender predictions are most often wrong if it's a girl and they believe boy. However with todays technology it's rare. That being said, I was a "Brian" up until I came out girl!
