Night feeding

Just want to get a gauge on how often you feed LO at night? And also, do you feed on demand or do it on a timed basis? Trying to gauge where we're at and what we've got ahead of us as LO continues to grow...

Re: Night feeding

  • How old is your LO?

We are now in  a routine, but I will tell you, this did not happen until about week 5.  I demand fed mostly, but it seemed to occur every 2.5-3 hours naturally, so that helped.

Now she eats every 3-4 hours during the day and is sleeping at night from about 7:30 to 2AM....

  • since birth, DS has been getting up every 3-4 hours at night to feed.  For the first time last night, he slept 6 hours straight.  We feed on demand.

My LO is 6 weeks old and I feed her on demand.  Now, she will go to sleep after nursing at around 10:30 or 11 pm and sleep until about 3:30.  The next time she wakes to eat is usually around 6:30 or 7:00.  It has only been the last week or so that this has been her "routine".  Before that, it was more like every 3 hours.
  • on demand.

at first it was every two hours. that slowly spaced out at night. she now sleeps 6 hours in a row at night

  • On demand. She eats 3-4 hours all day.

Until your pedi okays it (generally when your LO is back to their birth weight) you should be waking to feed every 2-3 hours.
