If you have an angelcare monitor...

What sensitivity do you have it set at for your newborn? I had it set to 5 in the beginning, but realized other things in the room make it 'tic' so I turned it to 2, then 3 and we had a million false alarms last night! I set it to 4 and watched it w/o DD in the PnP and it only had other things set it off a few times, but mostly the alarm went off. Just wondering what everyone has theirs set at...I just feel like 4 is really high but 3 had too many false alarms.

  • I dont know what we have ours set to because DH set it and now its packed in the car.... but I know with the PNP we had to have the pad on a sturdy piece of wood under the mattress and we also have to make sure its centered in the PNP otherwise we were getting false alarms too... Now whenever we get one we check the pad and usually it has shifted. I have heard once in the crib it gets better but we havent transitioned yet.

When we have the ceiling fan going, I have to turn it all the way down to zero. Now that she's bigger, usually have it set at three.

  • The piece of wood made all the difference in the world for us with false alarms.  I have it turned to 5 and it works perfectly now.

If you're not so handy, you can do what I did - walk into Home Depot and ask them to cut a piece of particleboard 50" by 26".  That's the standard crib size.  Cost me $8 and it was soooo worth it!
