I keep thinking I should pack a hospital bag, but don't know what the heck to put in it. Aside from pj's, sweats, tanks, slippers and robe (and of course the toiletries), what else should I bring?
Besides stuff for myself, what stuff should I bring for baby besides an outfit to come home in?
Re: I should probably start packing a bag
from what my friends have said you don't need anything for the baby.
you are going to want overnight pads for yourself as well, your camera, nursing tanks. and i would suggest having your pillow handy, hospital pillows are not so great.
and mmm i have not packed my bag yet which is prob not the smartest thing.
i put it off till a half hour before i left!! i didnt bring anything for the baby i packed a small bag that had his going home outfit and my sister brought that to the hospitol.
in my bag i had:
phone charger
comfy cotton dress it was held up with a tie on each shoulder which was great for breastfeeding (this replaced the hospitol gown)
hair dryer
tolietries
coming home outfit for me (yoga pants and t-shirt)
Glad to know I won't need to pack anything for the baby besides the coming home outfit.
I actually went to Marshalls tonight to look for some comfy lounge/sleepwear for the hospital. I found one gown that was really cute and had easy access for b/f'ing. I also found a two piece pj set that is super soft. I saw a nice cotton robe for $10, but passed on it only b/c it was missing the belt. It's annoying that there aren't more places that sell maternity stuff.
Definitely pack something comfy to come home in (for you!). I wore maternity clothes, and slide on sneakers. I couldn't really fit my feet into the sneakers because I was SO swollen. So make sure you have some sort of footwear that you can wear in case your are crazy swollen like I was. I also brought a blanket for the baby, but she was born in January. Our hospital had in house photographers that came into your room to do newborn photos (no charge unless you buy something, which you don't have to decide on AT the hospital), and we used the blanket for that. Bring a pillow for yourself. That's the one thing that I forgot that I really wish I had. Oh, and I brought my Boppy which was very helpful.
