Increasing my supply..

I bought a electric pump in hopes that it would help with my supply, since the manual i had seems to have ruined it. The electric is still only getting about 1/2 oz out of both, but when i manually express it there is still lots of milk in there. Does this mean i need a better pump once again, or a bigger breast shield? I dont want my supply to dry up but it looks like that is they way it is going.

    are you bf-ing or ep-ing?  i'd have lo nurse as much as possible to keep your supply up.  good luck! 1ht..

    Massage them while pumping...I get a lot more...

    If your nipple rubs on the shield you need a bigger size. If there's too much space you need a smaller size. You can try massaging your breast while you pump, turning up your pump a smidge, or trying to get another let down.

    fenugreek also helps. I had to talk to a lactation consulant today because since I started the mini pill my supply has slowly been tanking. She even said about 1/2 the women in the support group that meets as the hosp. have issues once on the mini pill. She told me to take 3 fenugreeks 3x's a day (9 a day total) and I went from 5-7 ounces very 3 hours prior to tanking, to 1.5 to 2 oounces when I tanked up to 3-4 ounces today every 3 hours. You also should make sure your shield is big enough and up the suction as high as you can stand.
