This is a place for any of you who are experiencing the world of azoospermia. Whether you were recently diagnosed and are trying to make sense of it all, or you have started preparing for IVF or IUI, or have decided instead to move on to adoption. Please join in the group by posting! Check in is on Thursdays.Learning that the chances of having a biological child with your husband are slim to none is not easy, and is, frankly, devastating news. This check in is a place where we can share how we are coping (or not) with our new realities, provide information we've learned through investigating our options, adjusting our lifelong dreams and plans, and dealing with the situation. I'd like to extend an invitation to those who have been fortunate enough to experience pregnancy, childbirth, and/or adoption. Ultimately, all of us desire to create a family. The experiences and insight of those who have reached that goal will be quite helpful to those of us on that road. AZOO SUCCESS STORIES! Hi, guys~ Been on bed rest for a week now. Went back in this week and my fluid levels increased, but the dr still wants me to take it easy. Gotta say, it's getting kinda old at this point. There's so much to do around the house, but moving around is uncomfortable, and I'm not supposed to be doing it anyway. Can't wait for the big day, and hope it won't be much longer!
DH was a weekend warrior and made great progress on the nursery this past weekend. This coming weekend will be a repeat. The cloth diapers are washed, a bunch of clothes has been washed, and we're in the waiting stage. Tic Toc!
Questions of the week~1. Does anyone know anything about sperm mapping? I'm not familiar with this - if anyone has any info, please feel free to explain! 2. What's your favorite sandwich? Roast beef sandwich w/lettuce, and mayo on a water roll. MMmmm, can't wait to have real bread again!
DH had his biopsy on Tuesday. He has been in some pain, but is doing well. We go in on June 4th for our results. Hopefully this next week will go by fast.
QOTW:
1. I have no idea what sperm mapping is.
2. IDK - maybe a grilled cheese or PB&J
TTC #1 since Dec. 2008
01/10 - DH diagnosed with Azoospermia
05/10 - First Biopsy - producing sperm
08/11 - Second Biopsy..4 vials frozen
08/12 - First IVF BFN & no more vials
Don't know our next plan...
Mrs.B2007- I'm praying for great news, I hope this week flies by!
k827- so sorry for your loss.
Not much to update on me, DH went for STD testing for preservation when he had his biopsy in June. I've had an emotional week, close friend not really trying is pregnant, but possibly m/c. She won't know for sure until blood work comes back. Just hearing all of this brought out so many different emotions. Happy, sad, jealous, angry she felt she couldn't tell me. etc.
1) I think Dr Turek in california is a bit proponent of mapping. I think it's a Fine Needle Aspiration? My info is rusty and very much second hand, but I think they take a lot of different very small samples from all around the testicle. Then if one of the samples finds sperm they know where to look in order to retrieve it. I guess it's is supposed to be a very good predictor of whether sperm will be there in a mTESE or not.
Some uro's agree and some (for example Dr Schlegel) have a very different opinion.
2) I really like Jimmy John's sandwiches! I can't choose just one

AFM: Beta was today, but I don't get the results until tomorrow since I'm doing my beta at the lab at home rather than driving OOT to the clinic. BUT....Monday I did an HPT and got a +ve!! Then this morning, tested again and BFP!! Can't believe this could be it!!
1. Does anyone
know anything about sperm mapping? Nope 2. What's your favorite sandwich? Smoked Meat
Craschi - almost there!
MrsVicki - congrats! Very happy for you.
Updates: not much, just waiting for AF today so we can start the FET. Last week scan showed a 11mm cyst but I'm hoping it'll go away with AF and the lupron depot. We are targeting the transfer around mid June, which might just fall on our 3rd wedding anniversary.
QOTW
1. Sorry, no idea what sperm mapping is but I am curious.
2. Hmmm.. Spicy tuna or tenderlion (yes, lion) from the corner bakery shop which makes fantastic bread. The tenderlion is a med rare roast beef with melted emmenthal cheese and some arugula. Yum.
Have a great weekend ladies.
1. Does anyone know anything about sperm mapping? Nope. 2. What's your favorite sandwich? Turkey Tom Our update: Today was my husband's surgery. He is recovering well. The lab called about an hour after I dropped it off and said it will hopefully be strong enough for ICSI. We have our follow up with the RE the first week of June and a follow up with the urologist the second week.
Only update is that more people are finding out about DH and the 0 sperm. SIL and BIL know now and we are waiting to figure out which type of donor to go with.
As for sperm mapping, I have heard that sperm mapping is big with that doc in California. I also have heard that it takes small samples and is less invasive than a biopsy. I have also heard that the results are more accurate than a biopsy because they look at a lot of different areas.
As for my favorite sandwich, I would have to go with ham & cheese.
Have a great long weekend!
12/09- DH dx Azoo
2/23/10- DH's ultrasound and FSH show normal results but no sperm!
3/10- 1st RE appt
4/12/11- d-iui #1
4/25- BFP!!! Still in shock!
