If your baby is now only taking two naps a day would you please post how old they are and a rough schedule (like wakeup time, 1st naptime, 2nd naptime and bedtime).
DD is STTN (8pm-6:30am) but she has always been a catnapper, usually 3 or 4 1/2hour naps. I'm wondering if I should work on moving her to two solid naps a day. I know I would prefer it, but maybe she is too young?
Thanks!
Re: Who has a baby down to 2 naps a day?
Hmm...I've been off for the past week or so and now they spilt the 6-12 board. Though on some pages it still says 6-12, weird.
Well, if you'd still answer anyway it would help.
She's nearly 11 months old.
up at: 6 am (why? WHY?!)
nap 1: 9 am(sleeps 2-3 hours usually)
nap 2: 2-3 pm(usually sleeps for 1-2 hours)
bed: 7:30 pm
I'm not sure when we went to 2 naps - maybe around 8 months?
7am - wake up
9:30-10:30 - nap
1:00-4:00 - nap
8:30 - bedtime
*obviously these are all rough estimates for times *
Mama Jan's Kitchen... a food blog
omg. I would love this.
up at about 9.
1 nap at 11 for about an hour.
2nd nap at about2/2:30-3/3:30
3rd nap 5 or 6 for an hour
bedtime at about 10 pm.
our schedule is NUTS. shes napping now from 4:30-? and the rest of our night will be crazy because she might even take one more 30 min nap...
Proud mama to a boys- 6/17/09 - a girl 2/23/11- and a boy 8/20/12
This is our schedule almost exactly!
8 months old
wake up 930am-ish
nap 1- 1pm-ish
nap 2- 5pm-ish
sleep 930 pm
Jack is up at 9-10 am
Goes down for nap at 11:30-1:30is
Goes down again at around 4-6pm
Goes down for bedtime at 9 pm
He's been doing this schedule for months now and has been STTN since 9-10 weeks.
DS is 7 1/2 months old, and it appears that this week he has dropped his third nap. Here is his schedule:
7:30a - wake up
9:30a - 11:30 - nap
2:30 - 4:30 nap
7:30 bedtime
6:30am - Wake up
8:30am - AM nap for 1-1 1/2 hrs
12:30pm - cat nap (or as I call it, the refresh button) for 15-20 minutes
2:30pm - PM nap for 1 1/2 - 2 hrs
7:30pm - Bedtime (although he is showing signs to move this earlier so we tried that tonight - worked like magic!)
DD was around 6 months when she started doing just 2 naps/day. She cut out her late afternoon cat nap, which was only about 30min anyway. Now this is her approx schedule... depends on how long her naps are and all that of course!
6am - First wakeup, BF
7-7:30am - Back down to finish off her night sleep
9am - Up for the day
11-11:30am - Nap
3-3:30pm - Nap
7pm - Bedtime routine starts
8pm - Bed, and she usually STTN until 6am
DS is up between 6-7, then naps 2-2.5 hrs after wake up, for about 1.5 hrs. 2.5-3 hrs after he wakes up, he naps again for another 1-1.5hrs. Then he is up until bedtime at around 7pm. He started doing this at 7.5 months, and STTN since then.
On occasion, if either of his naps are short (i.e. 45 minutes), then he will take a short third nap and go to bed at around 8:30.
up around 5 - 5:30 (you get use to it)
nap one - 9 - 10 - about one to two hours
nap two - 2-3 - about one to two hours
bath/bed - 7 - 7:30
I am a strong believer in just following your babies cues. When she is ready, your LO will fall into a 2nap pattern.
At 6mths DD was very much a catnapper and her sleep schedule was very random. She slowly but surely moved herself to 2 naps a day - probably over the last month or two?
DD goes to bed 8pm-8:30pm
- Either wakes for a bottle at 5:30am and goes back to sleep til about 7am, or wakes up for the day at 6-6:30am and has a bottle.
- First nap around 9:30-10am (usually around 2hrs give or take)
- up and plays til about 2-3pm then takes another nap - can be anywhere from 45mins - 1+ hrs - depends on first nap.
Don't stress it. I have spent so much time worrying about her sleep schedule only to now realize that DD has it figured out all by herself
He's on one nap now, but he's almost 1.
At 6mo, he was pretty much on the 2-3-4 rule... with two naps. (Sometimes the 2.5-3.5-4.5 rule)
He was up around 8:30, first nap around 10:30, up from nap around 12, second nap around 3, up from nap around 5, bed around 9.
Around 6.5 - 7 months:
Wake at 8am
nap at 10am until 12
Nap at 3pm until 430ish
Bedtime at 7-730
DD went to 2 naps around 6 months. Her schedule roughly -
6am - Wakeup
9am - Nap (1.5-2 hrs)
2pm - Nap (1.5-2 hrs)
7:30pm Bed (usually STTN til 6am)
We just dropped our third nap in the last week or two (may have been able to do it earlier though with some fussiness):
Awake 6:30-7 AM
Nap 1: 9:30-10 (for about an hour)
Nap 2: 2-2:30 (1-2.5 hours, depends on the day)
Bedtime 7 PM
Up at 8:30
1st nap around 11:00 for 2-3 hours
2nd nap around 3:30 for 2 hours
Bed at 8:00
B has been on 2 naps since about 3 or 4 months. He is almost 10 months.
Up at 7. AM nap 10-11 (or so). PM nap 1-3 (or around there). Down at 7:30.
DD went to 2 naps/day around 6 months. She cut out her late afternoon cat nap which was only about 30min anyway. So now this is what her approx schedule looks like, depending on how long her naps are and what times she wakes up of course!
6am - First wakeup, BF
7am - Back down to finish night sleep (or at least that's what I call it!)
9am - Up for the day
11-11:30am - 1st nap usually about 1.5 hours
2:30-3pm - 2nd nap usually about 1-1.5 hours
7pm - Bedtime routine starts
8pm - Bedtime, and she usually STTN until 6am
Since 6 1/2 months my DD usually follows this sleeping schedule:
6-7- wake up
8:30-9:30- nap (usually 1-2 1/2 hours)
1-2-nap (anywhere from 30-2 1/2 hours depending on morning nap)
7:30-8 bed
Up at 7-7:30am
Nap from 10-11am
Nap from 2-4:30pm
Bed at 8-8:30pm
Have you tried blackout curtains? Do you follow the same routine for bedtime that you do for naps? (minus the bath) Both of those really help.
DD was a half hour napper until about 7 months. She'd take four half hour naps per day. Then, right at 7 months, she first started lengthening her morning nap out to two hours, then her afternoon nap. Now, when she is home, she'll take a two to two and a half hour nap within two hours of waking up (so around 9-11) and a second nap of the same length about two hours after the first (so around 1-3). Until about 9 months, she was taking a catnap at 5. She has now dropped that, but once in a while if her earlier naps get interrupted, she'll still take a late afternoon nap.
Now, daycare is another story, she's gone back to half hour napping there.
