Babies on the Brain

I'm having a breakdown over here.

Had traffic court this morning for the ticket I got for someone's toe stepping off the opposite side of the street after I was turning and already in the crosswalk. I showed up 15 mins early all ready to go, only to find out I was four blocks away in the wrong courthouse (there are three in that area. awesome). Come to find out, after never getting a straight answer from the ticketing officer, he decided that telling me "I can't actually cite you for any violation, just go to court" meant telling the judge "she zoomed irresponsibly out into the crosswalk without any regard for the person right there" um, ok. Now I get to go to trial because you better believe I'm contesting that shiit.

After I got out I was supposed to meet our class on their field trip. I google mapped but got lost anyway, and after an hour of trying to find the damn place I gave up in tears and came home. I'm ordering myself a freaking pizza, extra cheese.

  • Holy crap! I'm sorry Navy!

    What'd the judge say?

ETA: Don't you wish you had a video of all that crap that happened to GET the ticket & what the officer said?

  • In traffic court you either admit and pay the fine or contest and set up a new trial date. I'm glad he told me what the officer said though, because I wrote down the entire conversation we had the day it happened, and what he wrote on the judges ticket and what he said to me are two ENTIRELY different things. I'm furious because it's such ridiculous bullshiit. Ugh. Sleep deprivation is making this all seem worse than it is, but it's still annoying.

  • That sucks.  Totally sucks.  Extra extra cheese.
  • I was reminded of a similiar story of mine:

Several years ago, I was driving back to college after working 1.5 hours away. I was trying to pass an 18-wheeler on a 2 lane hwy that was going 10 mph below the speed limit. As I was passing him, he sped-up, so I punched it & got in front of him as my passing lines changed to double yellow--just in time for a passing cop over 300 yd ahead of me to see me. He pulled me over 5 miles later, and cited me. I tried explaining, but he was in a foul mood.

He pulled me over in a little town & after speaking with my FIL (retired state trooper), he basically told me that if I wanted to contest it, it would take a lot. It was a small town & the cop was probably friends with the judge, so even if he didn't show, the judge would probably take his side, etc. It made me furious, but there wasn't much I could do but to pay the fine & not contest it.

I'm sorry you are having to go through this.
