Share your Most Freaked Out moment

Mine is kind of silly. Our garbage gets picked up at 5 a.m. I woke up at 4:45 and realized that we forgot to take it out. I ran downstairs, in my pjs, and went to take it out. As I was walking out of the garage, a really beat-up car pulled in my driveway. The driver was prob. in his 50s with a big, scruffy beard and he was staring straight at me - he was sort of scowling.

I was so scared, I thought he had to be an ax murderer. I completely froze. I literally could not move. Then, the oh-so-scary guy threw the newspaper out the car window and backed out of the drive. Yeah, I was freaked out by the newspaper carrier.

What's your scariest experience?

  • LOL at yours, but I would have reacted the same way.

    Mine is...

The husband and I were watching a scary movie one night and we paused it to let the dog out and so I could go to the bathroom. I came out of the bathroom and since it was late the lights were off in the hallway and kitchen. My wonderful husband jumped out from behind the corner all while holding and pushing the button for his battery operated drill down. I automatically thought it was also an ax murderer and screamed, threw my blanket on him and got in the fetal position. Real smooth jenna0627, real smooth.

A bat? by your front door? GROSS! I know they're good guys because they eat insects, but I still don't like them.

Aaargh, I would have freaked too. I can't even watch scary movies anymore because they make me sooo paranoid.

  • I have a serious fear of sharks. I had gone free diving off the coast in Mexico without any gear when all of the sudden a fin popped out about 5 feet away. I freaked the eff out and started swimming for my life to the boat. When I got on I looked back to see a Manta ray jumping out of the water. Turns out the fin was just the tip of the wing of the Manta Ray that was swimming by. I adore Manta Rays.

The first night of DH's BP weekend I was at our house. The guys all went out to local bars and had a relatively relaxed evening.

I heard someone at the back door and looked out the window. It was some dude with a baseball cap on. Luckily, he did not see me. He tried all of our doors to get in. He was walking around the house trying to look in the windows. Thankfully, we are a 1/2 story up from the ground so you cannot just walk up to our windows and see in.

I grabbed my dogs and hid in our bedroom. My cattle dog was going BSC. In hindsight, I should have called the cops. My neighbor and DH went nuts when I told them what had happened.

  • At the house we used to live in, we had a storage room that was added onto the house sometime after it was built. That was the way that you came into the house...a main door into that room and then you would walk through the kitchen door. The kitchen windows were right by the main door and you could see into the kitchen and into the living room beyond that.

One night we had fallen asleep on our pull out couch with the lights on. In the morning, we woke up and found that one the panes in that main door had been busted out. Someone had tried to break in the house while we were home and sleeping right where, whoever it was, could see us. The lock on that door was a deadbolt so they could not get in. There was blood all over the glass where they had cut themselves. We called the cops but nothing ever came of it. My DH slept with a huge hammer by his pillow for about a year after that. Very scary!!!!

  • Hmm, I have 2:

    1) I was driving from college to NYC for a job interview over winter break.  The weather was awful and I ended up hitting black ice spinning out.  I didn't hit anything, but I ended up on the shoulder.  The experience was terrifying and I'm still nervous driving in winter weather even though this was 6 years ago.

    2) When DS was a newborn he slept in a pnp bassinet next to my side of the bed (we didn't start bed sharing until he was 3 months old).  He still had his days and nights confused and DH and I were both really sleep deprived.  One night I looked over at DS and could have sworn he was having a seizure.  I think I was just so sleep deprived that I was dreaming/hallucinating because I freaked out and woke DH up and DS was totally fine.
