with their LO's without sounding like a know it all. One of my friends has a LO 2 weeks older than my girls and sometimes I would like to give some advice about things but I dont want to sound rude or like I know everything about everything. And mostly it is from things I learned on here or I would be just as clueless. Any suggestions?
Re: How do you give a friend advice
I would just mention casually that you heard about such a such a product or whatever.
If it's a touchy subject, I would not give advice unless asked.
If it is something she is complaining about or having trouble with then I usually phrase things - hey you know what I did that seemed to work with DS? (insert advice) it's worth a try, but all babies are different so you never know! Or - I was just reading about that the other day and I read that (insert advice).
I would not give advice on something that wasn't in some way solicited though. If she's not looking for advice, there is no reason to offer it and risk offending her.
Did she ask for advice? If someone asks for it I always use an anecdote about DD... ie "what worked for DD is _____"
But if sh'es not asking, I'm not saying anything.
Start with "Well, my interwebz friends say this..."
Tee hee.
I agree with this.
