I suppose I'm still coming to terms with not having a dedicated nursery for Baby T. I thought I was over it until a friend of mine e-mailed me this yesterday:
I was analyzing (as usual) why I'm so bummed out about it and came up with some questions. (I apologize if some of this is redundant from my post the other week regarding newborn sleeping arrangements.)
First of all, how old is your LO?
If your LO has/will have a nursery:
1. Post some pics (actual or inspirational), please! I want to live vicariously through you.
2. What types of nursery furniture do/will you have (e.g., changing table, glider, etc.)? Feel free to share brands and models, as well.
3. How much time per day does your LO spend in the nursery?
If your LO will not have a nursery:
1. Please share why (e.g., space constraints, you want to bed-share, etc.).
2. Are you okay with being sans-nursery (you may not have a choice, obviously, but I'd like to know how you feel about it)?
3. In light of not having a nursery, what other arrangements have you made (e.g., where does baby sleep, where do the diaper changes take place, where do you store baby's things like clothes and diapers, etc.)?
Re: Nursery Poll & PIP
first, congrats on team blue
i am just catching up on some posts right now

i have pics in my bio. it's not fancy, but the pics are there!
2. What types of nursery furniture do/will you have (e.g., changing table, glider, etc.)? Feel free to share brands and models, as well.
we have a crib, a rocker + ottoman, a dresser w/hutch that we use as a changing table, and a diaper pail
3. How much time per day does your LO spend in the nursery?
she is only in there to sleep (including naps). so i guess technically that is a lot of time out of the day but we don't really play w/her or anything in there during the day b/c it's a fairly small room and i prefer to be downstairs w/her in the living room where it is nice and open. when she was little, we did some tummy time on a blanket on the floor there but it was like 3 occasions for about 10 min each time.
I really wouldn't feel bad about not being able to have a nursery. functionally speaking all you need is a place for baby to sleep. you can change him on a changing pad or blanket on the bed, couch, etc. or even the floor (if you don't have back problems). now, when he becomes a toddler, then i think it's more impt to have a separate room

Here are some pictures from DD's nursery in our old house:
Even though she had her own nursery, she did not sleep in it until she was 1. The first six months she slept with us. When she was 6 months, DH deployed and DD and I moved in with my mother. DD didn't have her own room there. She slept in a crib in a little alcove in my room. My room had two dressers and I was able to fit all of her clothes into half of one of those dressers. We had a pack n play set up in another room and we used this as our changing table. We kept the diapers in a basket near the PNP. When we moved back to Maryland and she started using her nursery, she only slept in it. Actually, she is still that way. Even though we have some toys in her room, she hardly ever plays in it. So to sum it up now, it's nice that she has her own space now, but the first year we didn't need it.

I have a link (click here), my "mosaic" is too big to post here. It's purely inspirational, well, we bought that crib and change table and the bedding. I also bought those Etsy prints
The Poang chair is just an idea and the storage boxes are from IKEA for closet organization.
2. What types of nursery furniture do/will you have (e.g., changing table, glider, etc.)? Feel free to share brands and models, as well. We bought the Million Dollar Baby (aka DaVinci) Kalani crib and change table, as well as a mattress. The bedding set was JJ Cole. We are still waiting on the smaller items like a rocker, storage, etc. I also am in dire need of white photo frames, why are they so hard to find?
3. How much time per day does your LO spend in the nursery? N/A yet.

Baby isn't here yet, and we have a sort-of nursery (and no pictures), so I won't be able to answer most of your questions. But I know when I was thinking about the "nursery", any insight I could get from others was helpful! Anyway, we live in a 1 bedroom and we're converting our dining area, which was our office area, into the nursery. It's a decent size space, but open to the rest of the apartment. We're planning on eventually closing off the area with some creative curtain work, but for now we're keeping it open.
And I have to say, I am very happy and proud to be making do with what we have. With all the transitions that come with having a baby, there's no way I'd be able to deal with moving and paying more rent!

Well, most of the furniture was just delivered this past Sunday, so it's not all together yet. Also, we just had one shower and will have another this coming weekend, so I have gift bags/boxes everywhere until I can wade through them and get thank-yous written. Sooooo.....until I get this all organized, I haven't taken many pics. But I'll probably PIP the nursery in a few weeks when things get looking a little better organized.
2. What types of nursery furniture do/will you have (e.g., changingtable, glider, etc.)? Feel free to share brands and models, as well.
Crib = Westwood Brookline crib in Chocolate Mist
Dresser = Simmons Kids Northport Double Dresser and Hutch
Glider and Ottoman = Dutailier #914
Changing Table = Carters Sleep Haven Changing Table in Chocolate
Again....I'll PIP more later.
3. How much time per day does your LO spend in the nursery?
Don't know this yet. The current plan is to have him sleep in an ARCS in our room at night, and in the crib during the day. But we'll see, I guess!
First of all, how old is your LO?
Four months old today

We have a rocker/recliner/glider by Lane that we got for $50 off Craigslist. An iron daybed with pop-up trundle (also off Craigslist), Storage cubes (IKEA from like 10 years ago) with baskets for diapers, toiletries, toys, burp cloths and bath towels and wash cloths, blankets, etc.
Cedar lined chest that stores my Boppy and Brest Friend (haven't needed them since she was 4 weeks old) and linens for the daybed, crib (Athena Daphne) that has drawers where we store her clothing and extra crib sheets and has a changer on top where we change her diapers. It also has storage on the side where we keep our back-up supply of disposable diapers and wipes (just in case we ever need them), and random other items (mostly keepsakes from when she was born).
I also have a wall-mounted shelf/peg rack with some dresses hanging on it and some keepsakes on the shelf. Oh and an antique side table that my mom painted white that holds some books (about sleep and breast feeding, etc.) a lamp and some facial tissues. We have hardwood so I have an area rug in there too.
The only things purchased brand-new were the crib, wall shelf and rug. The rest we already had or I got second-hand on Craigslist.
3. How much time per day does your LO spend in the nursery?
Collectively? 4-5 hours between naps, diaper changes, rocking in the chair and playing on the floor (since it's our only pet-free zone in the house).
If your LO will not have a nursery:
1. Please share why (e.g., space constraints, you want to bed-share, etc.).
2. Are you okay with being sans-nursery (you may not have a choice, obviously, but I'd like to know how you feel about it)?

We could have just gotten a crib for our room and had space for the IKEA cubes and topped it with a contoured changing pad. We would have the just used the cubes for more clothing storage. FWIW, she primarily sleeps in our room anyway.

SNOOPY!!! LOVE!!! Sorry, that probably doesn't help...moving onto the questions...
1. Post some pics (actual or inspirational), please!
2. What types of nursery furniture do/will you have (e.g., changing table, glider, etc.)? Feel free to share brands and models, as well. 2 cribs (Aussie brand), rocking chair (free - fairly old) and a changing table (believe is DaVinci Jenny Lind - I bought it second hand).
3. How much time per day does your LO spend in the nursery? Let's see...we take them in either around 7pm or 10pm, and take them out at 8.30am or so. So 10-13 hours? But it's virtually all sleeping, and all at night. We use the living room MUCH more! So although I can absolutely understand why you're disappointed about not having a nursery (I would have been too!), there's every chance you'll be spending time in - and enjoying - another part of your house more than you would in a nursery.
Thanks for sharing, everyone! You've definitely given me some much-needed insight and I love looking at your nurseries!
I think preparing a nursery is part of the whole nesting instinct and I was really looking forward to the researching, planning, bargain-hunting and decorating. But, I suppose baby will do just fine in our bedroom for a while.
I think another aspect of my disappointment/guilt is that I always planned on being in a bigger space by the time we had children. Don't get me wrong. I'm grateful for what we do have, but things didn't quite go according to plan this time.
I guess this is good practice for letting go of my plans.
And thanks for posting this, Natalie!
In retrospect, we'd probably be screwed if we actually moved into a larger (i.e., more expensive) place. With the prospect of MH being laid off in the near future, we'd have much bigger problems than simply not having a nursery. We'll find a way to do the best we can with what we have.
First of all, how old is your LO? 8 1/2 months
If your LO has/will have a nursery:
1. Pics of Alexa's nursery:
https://growinglimabean.blogspot.com/search/label/nursery
2. We have the Munire Urban crib in espresso and Best Chairs upholstered rocker recliner in chocolate brown.
We use an espresso wood dresser that we already owned for her changing table. For contrast, the changing table cover is hot pink. I have a diaper caddy on top of 3 striped boxes from Restoration Hardware.
We also have a cheap espresso wood side table from Target and some cheap espresso fake wood box shelves from Wal-Mart. The box shelves are filled with soft totes in hot pink and green from the Pottery Barn outlet. I have a cheap magazine rack from Target next to the chair for reading material I want close at hand.
The quilt and bird pillows on the glider are from Etsy. The bird decal, bird prints framed on the wall, "Alexa" letters in Amy Butler pink corriander and matching crib skirt are also from Etsy. One of the mobiles is from Baby Gap and the other was made by my mom.
We also have a laundry hamper that came in neutral colored wood and we painted it espresso brown to match. And we have a diaper genie hidden in the corner next to the changing table.
Finally two KEY THINGS that every nursery needs: A light dimmer and blinds that block out all light!
3. How much time per day does your LO spend in the nursery?
She sleeps 7:30pm to 6:30am. Then we change her there and get her dressed. We also do her bedtime routine in there. And we let her crawl around on the carpet although it's not her main play area.

Sorry, don't have any!

Crib, changing table, dresser, and rocking chair. Only the crib was purchased new -- Graco Charleston. Everything else we already had or purchased from CL.
3. How much time per day does your LO spend in the nursery?
He takes a nap in there in the early evening -- we are trying to get him used to his crib to ease the transition from the bassinet in the future. We also change his diapers there. That's it!
