I'm on an insulin pump and I also have a Continuous Glucose Monitoring Sensor. I'm having trouble clibrating it the first day and night I have a new sensor on. Last night my alarm went off every hour or so. Sometimes it said High and somtimes it said Low. Everytime I checked it, it was between 90-106. So I finally turn of the sensor function on my pump so I could get some sleep. I reconnected this morning and have not had any problems. Do you have any suggestions on how to avoid this next time I change out my sensor?
Re: Anyone else out there on the CGMS
HI there!
i used to have the exact same problem with my CGm an it's very very common. the best advice i ever got was to change to a new sensor before going to bed and to turn off the sensor featuer on your pump (if it has one) sleep with the sensor in and hooked to the transmitter all night.. then in the morning take the transmitter and charge it and turn the sensor function back on.. THEn reatatche and start a new sensor as usual. sleeping with it in lets ir wet really well and cuts out all that calibration drama and the sensor errors and lost sensors and all that crappolla, it usually works really really well.?
Also i use a sensor for as long as I can. the first day readings are pretty much always off but by day two I've hit my stride and I dont want to change it on day three after only two good days!! So I leave my sensor in for sux days, even more if I have no iritation or anything but the adhesive usually doesnt last that long.?
hope that's helpful, also here's a great yahoo group site for diabetic moms.
