  • I would def. have to say charting! I would have never known what charting was unless I was on these boards.
  • The best practical tip was to drink 2 cups of green tea a day to improve cervical mucus.  It really worked for me!

The best "emotional" tip I got was to keep sex hot!!  It can be baby makin' and love makin' at the same time!

  • Back ground, I had long cycles and most doctors will see you after 60 days of no AF to "help her show"

    My doctors advice:

"Some ladies have long cycle, they are not fun, but nature works in weird ways. I hate to move along nature when there is a plan for everyone. If you have not had a menstrual cycle in 90 days, then come see me will go from there"

Thank goodness she said that because I got my BFP on CD73, I would not have the beautiful one year old I have today if she would have interrupted nature at cycle day 60.

Nature has it's plan for everyone, worked out wonderful for me!

  • The best tip I recieved was to chart for realsies.  Not use the ovulation calculators that you find online- but take your temp, monitor your CM and use the OPK's.  Its shocking how many of us go through life knowing absolutlely nothing about how our body works and that it can be so very different than everybody else's.

Well, we'll see how this advice works out on this cycle, but the best TTC tips I've received have been from this board - charting temps on fertility friend, where to order "internet cheapies" and the suggestion to use Pre-Seed.

  • One of my friends told me to "get it on on days 12, 14, and 16 of your cycle."  Wink

No, but really, charting is the best thing ever.  It's gives me a sense of control over what's happening even if nothing is happening.  Also, observing CM is great (even though I don't do it enough).

  • The best advice I received was to use Pre-Seed instead of normal lubricant when trying to conceive. Pre-Seed is ph balanced to help sperm stay alive longer compared to other lubricants.

Read Taking Charge of Your Fertility

    Chart using FertilityFriend.com

DON'T use "ovulatation calculators" to determine ovulation because they are useless

Don't go to your OBGYN for treatment. See an RE.

  • The best TTC advice I received was to realize that it can take a healthy couple up to a year to conceive. If I hadn't learned that here on the Bump, I may have believed I was infertile after 3 months of trying because everyone else in my family got pregnant so quickly. I am now on cycle 8 TTC after coming off BCP, but I know that I am still well within a 'normal' time frame for acheiving pregnancy.

Also, thanks to TCOYF and charting on fertility friend, I *know* my cycles are regular.

Knowlege is power when it comes to TTC.

This exactly.  I think I would have be very disappointed and scared after a couple of months of not getting pregnant, but knowing this fact puts my mind at ease, going into TTC.

I honestly did not know that and I am glad I lurked on here and found out.

  • To read TCOYF.  I've learned more from that book than I would have ever imagined, and I'm only halfway through.
  • I don't have to lay in the bed with butt and legs up in the air, the strong sperm are already well on their way and don't need extra help from gravity.

  • To have a sense of humor about TTC - it can be an emotional roller coaster, and you have to have a sense of humor to stay sane. The ladies on TTGP have helped so much with that!
