Pregnant after IF

Anyone else going Team Green?

Since I was in my early 20's (I am now 38!), I knew I wanted to be surprised.

DH wants to know.  Though he says it is going to be a girl - he had a vision. Confused Well, since he had a vision, there is no need to confirm it later on the u/s, right?

I am a bit bossy about this topic at home.  DH never even thought about being a parent until he was with me.  I have dreamt of being a mommy all of my life and I want to be surprised.  Actually, I want DH to tell me in the delivery room "It's a ...."  I want that moment.

Everyone that knows me is very surprised that I don't want to know.  I am a crazy planner and control freak.  But this is one thing I want - the surprise. I am not worried about decorating the nursery or having the right clothes.  We will have the rest of the child's life to buy pink or blue items.

My one out for being Team Green - I told DH if it was multiples that we could find out the sex.  But given my low betas, I am guessing that we have only one.

  • We are not going team green bc of the multiples "out" that you are talking about.  We did, however, go team green with DS and it was AMAZING!  My husband told me it was a boy...I will never forget that moment for as long as I live.  If we were having a singleton, I would do it all over again in a second!

  • I wish I had the patience to wait but I just don't!  Kudos to you!

LOL - I feel like I've waited forever to get here, I don't want to wait anymore. I'll be finding out (if I get that far).

I do have friends that didn't find out and say how incredibly exciting it was to find out in the delivery room

  • My husband wants to find out but i don't... i want to live the surprise at the end so we will not be finding out the sex!!!  It is going to be torture --- but  worth the wait!

  • We are Team Green.  I had much stronger feelings about it than DH.  Everyone is surprised because I am a planner by nature and hate surprises but I figure after everything we went through...I just couldn't know that too. We have a picture of this baby at 8 cells...I want the big reveal to be in the delivery room.

Of course, I absolutely love our girl's name and I am luke warm on the boy's name (that DH is really wanting) so part of me would like to know but I'm sure it will all work out in the end.  DH is starting to root for a girl too because he thinks a girl will be easier (I told him probably true until puberty!!).  So basically, I figure this means we will be having a boy...but honestly I have not "mother's intuition" which it will be.

It also makes it easier to go gender neutral without everyone complaining!

  • We're going to be team green. The only real difference is now we have to pick out four names instead of two!

  • Ok, there are a few of us.  I am amazed by those with twins being Team Green.  That is going to be so amazing - finding not what one baby is but two babies at delivery!

  • We are team green too! We were going to find out when there where two. But now we have one great little one!

I'm thankful for this board. I never felt comfortable posting on SAIF. To me that was for outside baby moms!

  • I admire all you team green mommies....when I was younger, I totally thought I would wait...that moment in the delivery room has to be so amazing!  As time went on, especially when we were having TTC, I started to want to know.  Now I feel like just having a baby is such a miracle, that I know that moment in the delivery room is still going to be the best moment of my life...even if I know the sex beforehand!

PS....6 more days until my anatomy scan. I.can't.wait.

  • I didn't find out for my first (and haven't for my 2nd) and the first time around it was AMAZING to have that surprise after labor and delivery!  I can't say obviously how it feels to know beforehand (it's probably amazing in a different way) but I love not knowing until the end!

One con is that I might not feel as "connected" to my inside baby as others who find out earlier do b/c I don't call him/her by name or anything like that.  I didn't have a name for my LO either until she was delivered.  : )

  • Years ago, when I was just dreaming of getting married and having kids, I used to want to be surprised.  After all the years of trying and the IF treatments, I really wanted to find out.  I figured that I had waited SO long to find out if I was going to have a son or a daughter and I didn't want to do any extra waiting.  But now that we are actually expecting a baby, my husband does not want to know (he never did).  And I've realized that I don't really want to know either.  I think it will be an amazing surprise after all that hard work.  And it really doesn't matter to us one way or the other... boy or girl... so we're staying team green :)

  • We both wanted to be green but then found out the other day we are (hopefully!) having twins...so I think given that there's TWO...will probably find out. Have not even discussed it yet, though, and won't for MANY weeks!
