3rd Trimester

Push present ideas

My hubby kindly and sweetly asked me what I would like ... we have some time still ... so I figured why not get some input from you gals!

What did or would you ask for?

Re: Push present ideas

  • I don't wanna be a smart a** but a healthy baby! We are saving money and not doing a push present.

But thats very sweet of your hubby.

  • nothing....we don't have the $$ for it and there isn't anything I need but a healthy baby.

  • My daughter to be born healthy is more than enough for me - she's the real present, I am not expecting/nor do I need anything else.
  • We're not doing "push presents" but maybe a nice camera or flip camera so you can record the baby's firsts? Or some jewelry with the baby's birthstone?
  • I guess it all depends on your budget.  He could get you something as simple as flowers or something more extravagant like a  piece of jewelery.

I have a sterling silver charm bracelet and DH adds to it for all events in our life, so I am sure if I get anything (but I don't expect to)  I will get a charm for my pandora bracelet.

  • I asked for a baby. I got. Now all I want is a healthy one.
  • my push present is the baby and my body back. I don't even think my husband would consider a present for pushing a baby out/having a csec/whatever, b/c it's not really an optional activity at this point in the game.
  • My hubby asked me as well. I mentioned getting a new setting for my engagement ring because it's a solitaire. It'll be something I get to look at every day!

  • How about a locket you can put LO's picture in? Or a nice frame for baby's first photos, or... a coupon for some foot massages and for doing every diaper change for the first two weeks :)

  • I've stressed to DH that he doesn't need to get me anything, BUT since he asked me I told him his choices are... 2 pink roses, 1 white and 2 red....odd number I know  but it represents our family of 5. OR charms representing the girls to add to my pandora bracelet. either 2 girl charms or 2 charms w/their birthstones. (If he doesn't get me those I'm buying them myself... loll so one way or another those I'm getting!)
  • Do you have a pandora bracelet?  Starting one in honor of the birth would be cute or adding to an existing one would be nice too.

I found this necklace on line and think this would make a cute gift as well:

  • I don't know why people are so snotty about push presents.  If you don't want to add ideas, then don't reply.  She didn't ask what people thought about push presents.

I would love a pair of diamond earrings, but I know that is not in my future.

For our wedding present I got a Tiffany's bracelet with the heart charm and on one side I have my new monogram and on the other side is the date we got married.  I love it.  I also love those sterling silver bangles with the ingraving on the inside.  That way if you have more babies, you could probably have more engraved inside it and also if you are BF you could use it to remind you what side you BF from last.

Another great present might be a gift cert to your favorite store for non-maternity clothes.  It might be weeks before you are ready to get out of your yoga pants/jammies but a new outfit always makes me feel better.

Congrats on having such a sweet husband.

  • Of course everyone wants a healthy baby!  I don't think anyone would request a material gift in exchange for a healthy baby.  That is not the point at all.  I think a gift celebrating the birth of our daughter is much more meaningful than a gift for my own birthday or even a wedding anniversary.

In our families, a "push present" (I hate the term) is always jewelry.  I will either be getting a second platinum/diamond/sapphire wedding band to wear above my engagement ring, or a pair of pearl and diamond earrings that match the ring DH gave me for our 1st anniversary.  I especially like the idea of the earrings because LO's birthstone will be a pearl.

Whatever DH decides to get will of course be inherited by LO when I am gone.  To me that is the purpose of this kind of gift: celebrating her birth with a piece of jewelry that will become a family heirloom.  Not, "Good for you for pushing a baby out of your vagina!  Here's a reward!"

  • My push present is finally finding out of LO is a boy or girl :)
  • a kindle electronic reader

  • OK I agree a healthy baby but sometimes it's nice to get something sparkly after all these months!  We deserve something for keeping our babies safe and healthy!!  My husband hasn't had to sacrifice anything and certainly doesn't have to push out a watermelon!

Before I got pregnant we talked about push gifts and I said I wanted another wedding band to add to my set.  I have a channel set band and I think I might want another one with the babies birth stone in it.

  • my push present would be if my husband isn't a total @ss and get kicked out of the delivery room either by me or security. That would be great.

  • I want sushi, a margarita and maybe a bouquet of flowers if he thinks of it Stick out tongue AT the hospital

I dont think DH will get me a push present other than the food, which he  already knows I want. Buuut, if he asked me, I'd probably want the Kindle or some other digital reader. Or an iPhone :)

  • this time, nothing.  Maybe he'll bring me a milk shake or something =)

After DD, i did get my wedding band upgraded, but that didn't happen for several months after, and it was a "happy baby, merry christmas, happy birthday, happy valentines, happy anniversary" gift all tied into one.  And it was something we had planned on doing anyway, so it really didn't have a lot to do with DD.

  • Because he offered, I think it's sweet (I got one - it's a birthday/push present)...he got me diamond stud earrings -- which is way above what I was going to ask him for (David Yurman bracelet - the skinny version)

Anyway, there are some beautiful Tiffany necklaces and bracelets for under $200 and lots for over - that's what I would do...

(I got mine because we know that we have the money now and later, even if we have it, we won't let ourselves spend the money on each other and he thought I deserved the earrings...)

  • Tequila - just like I got last time.
  • I also got this for my first Mothers' Day.

THIS!!! I am asking for a really nice diaper bag!! And my husband didn;t even ask what I wanted, I just let him know ;-) And of course, I want a healthy baby and that would be enough. The bag is just the icing on the cake ;-)

  • All I asked for was balloons. IDK why, but I love balloons Big Smile

I do really like the idea of a piece of jewelry that can become a family heirloom but I have no idea what DH has planned. He already went overboard on Mother's Day. He got me a camcorder that we can use to start capturing our family memories as soon as LO is born. It's more a family gift but I still feel he went way overboard.

I told Dh i wanted one of these for Christmas but it would make a great push present as well

  • My husband is from Italy, and it?s tradition there that after the birth of the first child he should give the mother a ring with 3 diamonds on it (one for each of us). BUT we are using all of our money for a long maternity leave?

  • Besides the gormet pizza I am requesting??? HAHAHA

I will prolly get a new charm for my mother's bracelett!

I kid, I kid, I'm with everyone else a healthy, happy baby is present enough for me.

  • He doesnt know that I know what it is- but he got me a second diamond wedding band to wear above my engagement ring.

Although- I am pretty sure he is also combining the baby with my 30th birthday and our 4th anniversary.  Suffice to say, I am done with any kind of gifts for a looong time.

I just wish my fatty fingers would go down!  He was asking me the other day if I would be taking any jewelry to the hospital.   He is so cute.

  • we aren't doing them... just don't have the $$ for it and I don't think its necessary! I told DH I just wanted some extra TLC these last few weeks.

If we were.. I think a necklace would be nice though!

This. I'm getting my engagement ring upgraded. It will be our sixth wedding anniversary too, so it is really a gift for "happy baby, merry christmas, happy birthday, happy valentines, happy anniversary" etc.

I too don't understand why people get so annoyed with "push presents." I agree that the verbiage probably isn't the best, but people get presents all the time for major milestones--graduation, birthdays, xmas...why those and not this? And of course everyone wants a healthy baby--one has nothing to do with the other!

  • Since my H was sweet and asked like yours did, and we have a little bit of extra money, I am treating myself to a new Coach diaper bag and a purse. This is my first baby, and on top of that, it's a girl and I have always said I WILL have a Coach diaper bag and I need a new purse really bad! LOL He just said "whatever makes you happy," which is exactly what I said to him when he bought new golf clubs! :)
