i'm trying to establish more routine in general w/ds now and wanted to see what everyone's doing for bedtime. i can't bathe him every night b/c his skin gets way too dry, so i don't know what my options are since i see that everyone includes a bath as part of their routine. say his last feeding is 9pm, should he get a bath before the last feeding before that?(did that sentence even make sense?) so new to all of this and not really sure what to do. thank you!
Re: bedtime routine w/o bath?
It's probably going to be trial and error to figure it out. If you're LO falls asleep with that last feeding then I would do a bath before because sometimes a bath can be stimulating and then you will be up later than you want. On the other hand if your LO finds the bath to be tiring you may want the bath to come last in the evening.
My LO adores her bath and gets very active and wound up so we take a bath at about 7 pm and she goes to sleep by 10:30 (usually).
We only do bathtime 2-3 times a week. So our bedtime routine without a bath is change into PJ's, read a book on mommy and daddy's bed with paci, rocking chair with bottle, crib. Doesn't sound like much, but it's a good 45 minute process.
On bath nights, we just do a bath before all that. Not all that complicated.

Truth be told, I don't have the energy after work to bath him every day. Our routine is a feeding with low lights and cuddles in our rocking chair.
On bath nights, all of that is done after he's been washed, lotioned, and PJs on.
We do a bath every other night. So on the off nights where he doesn't get a bath, I still take him upstairs, get him out of his clothes, and change his diaper. Then I bring him (diaper only) into the bathroom and just wash his face, neck, hands, and feet with a washcloth that has only warm water on it. Then he gets his new clothes, and his last bottle. Would you be able to do that? Or would just the water on his skin get him too dry?
Love your DS's name by the way! Same as my DH
We do a full bath every 3 days. On non bath days we change her into jammies, cuddle and feed time in our bed then place her in her crib swaddle, pacifier, cuddles with stuffed bunny (I take away once she's asleep), turn on lullaby cd, and ocean waves on sound machine. She sleeps from about 9p - 6a.
I see no reason to bathe LO every day at such a young age. He gets a bath Sunday, Tuesday & Thursday.
After bath I put him in his PJ's play his magic seahorse while giving him a bottle with the lights turned down really low.
On the nights he doesn't get a bath it's the same routine, just without the bath.
we only bath once a week because of eczema
We start dimming lights and talking quietly at around 7p.m.
Change into PJ and put lotion on, cluster feed with 1-2 books in between, swaddle, he is usually asleep by 8ish
We do baths as part of the bedtime routine. He only takes a bath 2 or 3 times a week. I do it after his last bottle because if I do it before, he is too hungry to enjoy it. On the nights he doesn't get a bath, I still wash his face/hands/neck with a washcloth. Then we play on the quilt during the time he would be getting a bath on a bath night.
