We are doing a Dr Seuss birthday party. What can I make that we could call "ooblech" - like what food do you picture.
Also, I want to make something and call them popovers. Does anyone have a recipe for something baked with wonton wrappers?
Tia!

Re: Dr Seuss birthday party recipe help please : )
for the popovers, you can't go wrong with a paula deen recipe:

for ooblech, i picture something like this:

Ive never had a popover but it sounds like something that would be good with shredded chicken and cheese, maybe with a mexican seasoning to it? I cuold be totally wrong lol.
We are also doing Dr Seuss. Would you mind terribly if I asked what else is on your menu and how you plan on decorating? I have our party roughly sketched out but would love some more ideas.
ETA: Found this online and it sounds delicious

okay... here's more:

Not at all. I don't remember which books they all came from, but this is what we have to work with (not sure if I will make it all).
Drinks: Pink lemonade (pink ink drink from 1 fish 2 fish) and then from the sleep book we are doing Goose Juice & Moose Juice (which we'll either make two different kinds of iced tea or re-label two liter soda bottles)
Apps/sides/snacks: Popovers (My Uncle Terwilliger), Corn on the Cobsk (If I ran the Zoo), Multicolored goldfish- probably in a clear vase or something, obv for the 1 fish 2 fish again, and then deviled eggs dyed green. Then whatever we decide ooblech to be, which is from Barthalomew's book).
Main dish we are doing ham and I was thinking roast beef (grinch) but I hate roast beef, so maybe we'll do burgers and label it the grinch's roast beef? I think people will understand that burgers are much preferred at an outdoor party over roast beef.
For dessert I am hoping to make a cat in the hat cake, plus I want to make thing 1 thing 2 cupcakes (cupcakes in a red cupcake liner, lightly frosted, with blue cotton candy on top), Schlop Schlop with a cherry on top from Oh The Things You Can Think- I plan to make a strawberry trifle but top it with cherries. Also in the Lorax book they mention Truffulla fruits- I was thinking of buying some of those fruit shaped candys and putting them in a big clear vase. DH suggested candy canes (Grinch) if you can find any. Also you could layer something red (jello?) alternating with whipped cream in clear champagne glasses to look like the cat in the hat's hat.
Some family members are bringing some appetizers too, but not Dr. Seuss related.
We have no idea what we are doing to decorate though!
Good luck. I'd love to hear any ideas you have that I missed!

Thank you SO much for that link. They went all out wow.
I haven't been planning to go quite as detailed on the foods. I more or less took easy foods and found a way to match them to a book.
We are doing a punch bowl (Actually a fish bowl) and I'll be using blue koolaid with stickers from one fish two fish on the outside. I will probably also do pink lemonade for the Yink Ink too and maybe put fresh fruit in the bottom of the bowl.
We're doing Poodles with Noodles (Potato & Macaroni salads)
A lunch meat tray will be the "Roast Beast Feast" from The Grinch. And we'll be doing the green deviled eggs too.
Meatballs in a pot will be our Yot in a Pot, and the veggie platter will be our "Truffula Tray"
I'm also going to do cake pops for favors which will be made to look like Horton's clovers. And we are going to do the Thing 1 cupcakes but I will make the stickers on them say "Tristan is 1"
As for decorations, those are easier for us. I am going to have mini candy bowls on each table with rainbow gummifish, m&m's and rainbow twizzlers in them.

The twizzlers will go into a glass vase similar to this with the blue fuzz around the top.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003BKNEB8/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=A15FQPGSF5C19E
And we will have a banner, various stuffed animals around, paper lanterns and his 12 month pictures on display. I will probably use crepe streamers too. For tableware I'm just going to use red white and blue as the primary colors (Going to sweep clearance right after the 4th of July lol) I was thinking of making the sign post from "And to think that I saw it on Mulberry Street" using a broom handle and some poster board to place on the front yard.
I would love the cut outs from your link but haven't found anywhere to get them and not sure if I could make them.
I got a lot of ideas from this site

I may add some more appetizers or desserts now that you have given me such amazing ideas. I'm completely at a loss however for activities for kids.
