Maternity Pictures - Do them or not?

I am a little lost on to do them or not. I want them because I LOVE TO SEE ALL OF YOURS! But I dont think I am to the point to have them if it makes any sense. How far along were you when you had them done, or how far along will you be when you have them done? I will be 30 weeks tomorrow and I thought it was about to time to look into them if I am wanting to do it?

I've heard of people getting them done around 34-35 weeks. Then you're not too big or uncomfortable.

Mine were at almost 32 weeks. I like them, but then again I got them for a killer deal (all images on disc for $59 bucks). I don't think I'd shell out too much money for them though, I'd rather have nice pics of the little one.

I love mine. I was 34 weeks. I think it also depends on your photographers experience how well they turn out. I was literally shocked at how well ours came out considering I had been feeling fat and ugly.

If you want to do them, 30 wks is good. As for me, I never really planned on taking pix of my belly. It has been an adjustment for me to get used to my pregnant belly. Even though I am in my 8th mo. I haven't gotten used to it yet. My husband just takes pix of me every week to show my progressive growth, but I didn't want to spend the money to get professional ones done. Have fun at your photo shoot if you decide to do it!

I'm opting not to do them. I have so much to pay for right now, and pictures of me looking like a whale don't seem all that important. That said, I know everyone does not feel like that about their belly. I know it's normal, but nothing fits and I honestly don't want to look at pictures of my belly. My H takes a picture of me every week, and that's good enough for me.

This girl on my FB had them done at 18 weeks and I was kinda confused. I thought it was actually once you "POPPED POPPED" like 3rd tri popped. Thanks for the insight!

got mine at 33 almost 34 weeks. I love them. I was really torn and wasn't going to but ended up doing them (I don't feel like the cutest pregnant girl ever, I'm quite self conscious) But once I go them back I'm SO HAPPY I did them. I love them.

i plan on doing them and ill be doing them myself (with help of a friend/hubby) so there is no extra money spent where it need not be. (I dont have payed maternity leave so Im saving where I can)

She's a moron

Thats what I told my SO. He thought I was acting that way because she is pregnant at the same time I am. (She isnt a close friend so it really doesnt bother me)

We are going to do ours around 34-35 weeks. We have a young friend who is an amateur photographer who does AMAZING things with a camera. She refuses to take money, just uses the photos for her portfolio. Of course she does not give us any prints, just everything on a CD.

I was 30 weeks. I think it was perfect timing because I had a bump but I wasn't swollen or uncomfortable yet. I love our photos and will do it again with any other pregnancy.

The best argument for getting them done I've heard has been, if this is your first, this is a momentous occasion in your life and you don't want to look back and say I should have documented that in a loving artful way. Or something to that effect.

I just did mine this past weekend (at 37 weeks). I think 34-36 is a good time for most. 37 turned out to be just fine for me but you do get more 'puffy' around that time.

I don't think it's something you need to go overboard with or spend a lot of money on, because really what are you going to do with them afterwards? I just wanted one good photo for the baby book and maybe I'll put a small framed one in the nursery. I do think it's a special time i our lives and I'm glad we'll have a record of it with a beautiful picture.

I do not plan to take maternity pictures. It is not like I am going to put my big old swollen self in a frame and display it in our house, so I am saving the money. They are beautiful, I just would never display them, and I have taken weekly pictures to document my belly growth.

I'm just not a fan; I think they're a little strange. I also don't know what I'd ever really do with them. It's not like I'd have them out on display or anything.

I'm about 32 weeks and I'm getting mine done sooner than later. I have a friend doing them for her portfolio. We already have a daughter so I wanted to get them done cuz I love the ones where the baby is kisses momma's belly.

I feel like a whale, but I assume they'll turn out nice. And as for a use, I'm thinking of using them as Thank You cards for gifts.

Just scheduled mine for June 6. I will be almost 34 weeks. A couple do them and we are paying $100 for unlimited locations and clothes change. We plan on doing them in a local park / garden and then down by the riverfront and possibly downtown. We have to order our prints through them, but they are affordable!

We chose to do them, because it's our first baby and we are kind of using that excuse to do everything. It may sound bad, but like our doctor has said, you can't go back and "redo" these things.

We did ours this past weekend (so almost 34 weeks) and I think that the timing was perfect. I'm just getting to that stage where I'm swelling and uncomfortable and I'm afraid if I waited much longer they wouldn't have looked so good. I was on the fence about doing them, but I *love* how they turned out and I'm so glad that we decided to do it.
