Pre-School and Daycare

Are you doing summer preschool?

I think we are.. even though it's summer, we still need indoor time and interaction with other kids (and I need a break so I can get stuff done).

Just curious if anyone else is going to as well.  Ours will be MWF, I sort of wish it was Tu/Th though, since we might be kind of busy.

Re: Are you doing summer preschool?

  • Yup.  We introduced my first to summer preschool as his first go-round, and it worked well, so #2 will be going to summer preschool starting next week.  They'll both go in the fall MWF 9-3, and the summer it is just MWF 9-12:30 (same place for fall and summer).

I need the break, and they need to be with other kids and not with me for a period of time...we're all better because of it.

They'll go for 8 weeks, and each week has a different theme, with Wednesday being "swim" day (lots of inflatable pools, a bounce castle, sprinklers, etc)

I plan to fill the afternoons and other days with zoo and park trips...as much as I can do as I near the end of this pregnancy.

  • We are skipping it.  I signed the kids up for classes and we have a lot of activities planned.  Lily usually goes Thur/Fri from 9-12.  Hunter really wants to go so he will be starting in August.  I think it will be nice to have a break and then Lily will be in the older 3's class and Hunter will be in the young 3's where Lily was.

  • We decided to just do one day a week.  Little break for both of us :-)

  • DD's center goes straight through the summer (it's part of a hospital so they really can't shut down for any more than the basic holidays). They do such a great job of putting together a summer program- special guests, water days, etc. I get excited for DD to spend her summers there too! And this year she'll have the best of both worlds b/c she's home w/ the nanny 2 days per week so she can still go to the beaches and parks during the day, which will be heaven for her.

My kids are in FT daycare and both as of next week will be in the preschool program.  They do a summer camp program that starts next week and runs through Labor Day and every day has a theme or some special activity to make it different than the rest of the year.  Wednesdays are water days and the kids bring swimsuits and they have the srpinklers on.  They get a bounce house for a week at least once a month, they do a whole State Fair week at the end of the summer, one of the teachers has horses and brings the smaller ones in for rides, they have an ice cream truck come, they have a traveling zoo come.  It is a blast.

Our school district doesn't do preschool during the summer but next year when my older DD is in PreK, she will still go as part of the normal summer program that the school offers (and my kids will most likely go to for most of the summer until they age out of it!!!)
