Background: I have battled with fibroids since I was 23 years old. During my first pregnancy, two of them grew to a ridiculous size, and I was in terrible pain, so I ended up getting u/s from a peri every month up until 38 weeks (sometimes twice per month). Well, I went on to have a normal vaginal birth, and the fibroids went back down to a normal size (approximately 3.5 centimeters) after I had DD.
Well, I found out I was pregnant last Thursday. I did not feel any pain outside of the norm (AF type cramping), so I thought everything was smooth sailing. However, on Monday I woke up with very severe pain on the left side of my abdominal. I tried to push it off as if it was just the fibroids, but after being up ALL NIGHT on Monday, I decided that I needed to go to the ER.
Yesterday I went to the ER to see a doctor! After doing a pelvic exam and an u/s, they knew that something was definitely wrong. They saw my fibroids and a couple of ovarian cysts. They cannot say for sure what is causing the pain though because a baby does not typically show up on an u/s until about 6 or 7 weeks. At this point, I don?t know if the pain is from the fibroids, the cysts, or if I am having an ectopic pregnancy, and unfortunately, I will have to live in limbo for the next 2 weeks.
On a positive note, I am not bleeding or spotting, my cervix is closed (yay), the pregnancy test they gave me came out positive, and my HGC levels are normal at this stage (570).
I called my OB today and she asked me to come in this morning. She had me give blood today, and set me up appointments to give blood again on Friday and Tuesday. I will meet with her on Wednesday to go over the test results, and will have to get another u/s on Monday, June 7th. I will probably be on pins and needles over the next few weeks, but prayerfully everything will be alright. To be honest, I wasn?t very ?excited? about this pregnancy until yesterday. It hit me that I am going to have another baby and need to start taking care of myself

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I hope it's comforting that you have one beautiful, healthy LO that came out of a painful pregnancy.
If it helps at all, I've been in miserable amounts of pelvic pain for two years and although they've checked for endo, fibroids, and anything else they can think of all I've been diagnosed with is IBS and ovarian cysts. But, they did tell me that people who have 'things' wrong in their pelvic area are much more apt to get nerve entrapment due to all the inflammation. Apparently, nerve entrapment is HORRIBLY painful, and gets worse during pregnancy, although it's not really dangerous or problematic (other than the trouble trying to function like a normal person).
There have been several times in the past month that I have been screaming in the fetal position on the bathroom floor, just knowing that something was wrong with the baby because it hurt so bad. Every time, the baby has checked out perfectly fine.
I know this is long-winded, but I just wanted you to know that #1 - you are not alone, and #2 - mind bending pain does not always equal something bad.
Hope you get some good news and feel better real soon!
