39 wkers: still weighing yourself? :)

How much have you gained?

I am up 28 lbs. and I'm wondering how much of that is baby. Does anyone know how much the baby/placenta/other stuff is supposed to weigh? :)

I have stopped weighing myself months ago.

Well the baby can range from 6-10lbs, water is another 4lbs, placenta 2lbs.  My mom swears that she lost 18lbs after delivering.  She looked for a scale in the hospital and weighed herself after delivering.

  • I am up about 35 I think.  Not sure how much is related to baby but I know for sure not all of mine is and I will have some work to do!!
  • I'm up 47 lbs. I weigh myself only to keep my weight in check and not go crazy. I gained a ton of weight in 2nd tri and have majorly slowed it down the past couple months.

There's really no way to know how much your baby weighs, unless you've had a growth ultrasound, which aren't always accurate. Not really sure about the placenta and everything. I've heard of people coming out of the hospital weighing 20 lbs less than they did though.

  • I am up 21 lbs and I believe everything with the baby/etc totals around 20 lbs.

  • I was up 22 at my 39 week appt. On my home scale I've lost since then, but I generally weigh more at the doctor's office.

  • found this online:

    • Baby: 7-8 pounds
    • Placenta: 1-2 pounds
    • Amniotic fluid: 2 pounds
    • Uterus: 2 pounds
    • Maternal breast tissue: 2 pounds
    • Maternal blood : 4 pounds
    • Fluids in maternal tissue: 4 pounds
    • Maternal fat and nutrient stores: 7 pounds

  • No and I dread getting on the scale at the doctor's office. I'm up 52 lbs but I'm retaining so much water my doc swears I'll be down 40 lbs after the first month. I hope he's right...

Wow, if this is true, I might come home weighing less than when I started.  I've gained 20-22 lbs depending on the week.  Good thing since I'm in a wedding 3 weeks after my due date.
