Pregnant after a Loss

Friend is being difficult about work shower now...

I figured we'd just do it at a restaurant that has a big private room in the back.

She says her 2 yr old is too "wild" for that (even though we could close the doors so he could run around)... and having it after work at the office is too "boring".

So she wants it at a park... at the end of June.  When she's 8 months pg and I'm 7 months pg.

All I can say, is its gonna be HOT.  And how do you open presents without the paper all flying away?

Re: Friend is being difficult about work shower now...

  • Is there a park with a covering?  I have been to many of kids birthday parties at a park, and it ended up okay as long as it doesn't rain.

However if your co-worker is admiting her child is too wild for a restaurant, perhaps it is time to start some disipline... Do they never go out?

  • I think I have to ask a stupid question...why would her 2 year old be at a work shower? Aren't those usually held during the work day?

    Agreed.

  • She should really consider getting a babysitter.  Sounds like the whole thing is being catered to her needs as a Mom, and she's not thinking practically or about what works for you.  I'm sorry.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Plus, I'd be worried about the weather. Summertime equals afternoon thunderstorms in the south, right?

Yep! Didn't even think about that... although if she insists on having it at a park, I'm insisting that it's at like 10am so it's not 100 degrees yet... literally!

  • Why is the 2yo even going to be there?  Can't her DH or a babysitter watch him?

Ditto that! She is certainly making it all about her, which is ridiculous.

  • I would stick with the resturant.  Would you have to worry about providing food at a park and the costs?  That seems like too much work and $$$ for a co-worker shower.
