DH concerned about kiddie pool ruining the lawn

If I knew we were going to use it one day, I think I would fill it up in the morning and leave it in the sun in hopes that water warms up a bit (it can be really cold coming right out of the hose), but DH is worried it will kill the lawn. I plan to dump the water out when we're done with it.

Any fix to this?

Can you put the pool in the driveway or on a patio?

  • I would just keep moving it around. If it stays in one spot, it will kill that circle of grass. But if it is not in the same place, your lawn should befine
  • If you have a deck or patio you could put it there. I just make sure I don't leave it there for too long.  I also dump the water as soon as the kids are done and I try to dump it in different parts of the yard so not all the water is dumped in one spot.

  • Tell your DH to get over it. :)

    It won't ruin it.

  • I think it would only kill the lawn if you left it out for several days.  It shouldn't hurt it to fill it up in the morning, use it in the afternoon and dump it out/put it away when you're done for the day.
  • I think I need to tell DH to get over it! Stick out tongue
  • I'm not 100%, but I think if you pick it up each day and dump the water out, it won't ruin the grass. We have neighbors who do this and I haven't noticed anything wrong with their grass.

We plan to do the same.

This, exactly. I think there are lots of other things your kid is going to do in the future that will ruin your lawn even more.

Ours is on the driveway out of the way so we can keep it up and warm.

  • It would only kill the grass if you left it in the same spot for days. Dumping the water the same day you use it should be fine.

  • I agree with the others that said to dump it the same day. I like to put it in parts of the yard that need extra water so that when I dump it too, the grass needs it.
