2nd time moms/ u/s ?

Ok ladies.. I might be overeacting a little bit but I need some advice.

I am pregnant with my second child. I am about 5 & a half weeks. No one knows we're pregnant except for dh & myself.

I am not going to use the same obgyn I used last time & I'm having some problems finding one. I thought I had found an ob and scheduled my apt.  However I  happen to fall on monday & called him. I hadn't met him yet and he seemed irritated that I was bothering him & said I should be fine and to take it easy.

That being said, I decided maybe I should find someone a little easier to talk to. I found someone in the same office who is a female. However when I scheduled an apt with her she didn't want to do an u/s until I'm 18 weeks :(  (the other ob wanted one done at 8 weeks )

I'm so confused. What do you think I should do? I know I might be overeacting but I had an u/s with my first child in the 1st trimester and then again at 20 weeks. So I'm not sure what to do.

    If you got a bad vibe from the male OB, I'd switch now. I know it's hard not to get a million u/s, but with my DS I only got one- the gender u/s. And that's pretty normal. I wouldn't choose my OB based on how many ultrasounds I got.

    Well I had one at 6 weeks only because I wasnt sure how far along I was, my next (and would have been my first) isnt until 18 or 20 weeks, which is pretty standard as I understand unless they are some concernce or you are having the NT scan done between 11-13 weeks. Most insurance companies only cover 1 u/s unless doctor has reasons to do additional. With my daughter I only had one (this was 12 years ago so things might have changed since then)

    Anyhow you can always request another one, but I would check into changing OB's if your not compfterable talking to this one.

    With my first, I had my first u/s at 20 weeks.  This time, new doc and he did an internal at 8 weeks.  Every doc is different but I wouldn't worry about the late u/s if you feel like you click with that doc more!

    i have had two different obs and both of them did an ultrasound at the first app for dating, one at 20 ish weeks and this most current office i am at does one at 35/36 weeks to check size,dates,fluid, and position. the first and the last one aren't charged and done in office by dr. the 20 week anatomy scan is done at the hospital and is charged.
