Just wondering if anyone else takes a separate calcium supplement from their prenatals. I just remembered my doctor advised me it was a good idea when I told I was planning on TTC. I picked up some Viactiv chews, and they are actually pretty good. Tastes like caramel. YUM

Re: Do you take a calcium supplement?
I never thought about that before, it's probably a good idea though!

I don't, but I do eat/drink a lot of dairy daily in addition to my PNV. I agree about the Viactiv chews, though, they are pretty good!
LOL! Better not get them then. Maybe try a calcium pill!

Nice! I am cheap as well, so when these run out I'm gonna try the CVS kind. I didn't realize they had a generic brand.

BFP #1- 4/2011; DD Brynn born 12/2011
BFP #2- 7/13; EDD- 4/2/14; Lost DS at 20 weeks (11/16/13) due to cord accident
BFP #3- 3/14; EDD- 11/28/14; Lost DD at 15 weeks (6/7/14)- cause unknown
To my angels- I held you every second of your lives and I'll love you every second of mine.
I eat yogurt a lot and drink cereal with milk, but my doc said that may not even be enough. Instead of eating the recommended 2 chews a day, I only eat one. I'm sure you're fine, but it's definitely a good idea on days you don't get any dairy.

I wouldn't take both. I've never heard an OB recommend both and you can get toxic levels of some vitamins if you take both,
I do, not only for the baby, but for me too. I'm lactose intolerant, so I don't get much calcium from other sources.
I also take Omega 3's, which are also supposed to be a good supplement to prenatals.
As someone said, if you're going to supplement with calcium, I wouldn't do it through a multi-vitamin. With vitamins you really can have too much of a good thing. I take a prenatal and supplement with calcium and fish oil - that was the suggested prenatal pack from the place we get our vitamins.
Check your PNV to see if calcium is included. Both of the PNV I've tried have been really low on calcium, but I don't know if all of them are like that.
Don't take a multi and a PNV. Among other things, too much iron can kill you - I don't know exactly how much iron is in a multi but the recommended amount is in your PNV.
I do take calcium. I just don't drink enough milk and my OB said this was a good idea.
