Postpartum Depression

Zoloft users

Anyone had a problem with their meds after switching BC?  I was recently switched from the mini-pill to the patch.  I have been on the patch for 2.5 weeks now, and no longer feel like my Zoloft is working.  I have been on the same dosage of Zoloft for nearly 4 months now, and it had been working beautifully.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Re: Zoloft users

  • I am only on day 3 of taking zoloft, so I can't answer that question for ya.  Did you have an increase in anxiety when you started it?  My already unbearable and through the roof anxiety is even worse.  I don't know what to do.  Hope you get some answers too.

  • No, mine decreased right away, but I was told it could take several weeks for the meds to start working.  I would call your Doc.  GL!

  • What dosage were you on to begin?  25 or 50mg?  I started at 12.5 for one day, then 18.75 for 2 days and that is where I am.  I have a call in to the psych, but I don't know when she will get back to me. Thanks!
  • one more thing...did it relax you?  I feel so incredibly uptight, I pace around my house cause I can't sit, my chest is tight, nervous stomach, etc.  Did you have that and the zoloft relaxed your body and mind? or what was your anxiety like?  thanks again.

It made my anxiety worse for a few days, too. That's pretty normal. Hang in there and it will get better (and if it doesn't, let your doc know). It took about 10 weeks to increase my dose from 25mg to 100mg and about that long to really notice a difference (again, very typical for those with anxiety). It takes a good while to build up in your system and while there are those who experience relief within a couple weeks, it's not super common.
