Sharing a birthday with LO. Yes or No?

Today is my birthday and I'm not sure whether it would be fun to share a birthday with LO or not. I had DS at 36w 6d, so I've never been this pregnant before! :)

Not that I have a choice when LO is born, just wondering what it would be like to have him come today!

Re: Sharing a birthday with LO. Yes or No?

  • It would be cool dont get my wrong but You want your LO to bake as long as possible.

Im due August 19th and my bday is August 1st and it a good possibility that I could have her then..

    Happy Bday!

Happy birthday!  I  had my birthday on Monday and I was glad I didn't go into labor... I don't want LO to have to share a birthday with a family member, even if it's me.

  • I think it would be neat :)

My 2 cousins and their dad are all a day apart - April 24, 25, 26th.

  • Me & my Mom (& her twin brother) share a birthday and I LOVE IT!!!  It's always been so special for us to share a birthday together & I especially loved it when I was a kid for some reason.  Just made the day extra special to share it with my Mom & Uncle.
  • I'm due August 18th and my birthday is August 10th. I would want LO to have my birthday. I think it would be neat but it's not like I do anything big for mine, his would always be the party.

  • i kinda like sharing my bday so i guess it really doesnt matter, it would be kind of neat!  I am more worried about DS and DS#2 having the same birth-month...again, not that it REALLY matters but i dont want them to have to share parties, etc.

I guess if it happens, it happens! I don't think I would mind. I would just know for the next 18- 21 years that I won't be celebrating my birthday very largely lol. I'm going to be one of those "birthday parties every year" kinda moms for LO. So in all honestly I wouldn't want that to happen I guess lol.

    Happy Birthday!!!

  • My brother and I share a birthday (we're 8 years and 2 1/2 hours apart). It's wasn't always fun. Shared party, shared cake. Now that we're older I've found that there are years that I get very excited about my birthday but will almost forget to get my brother a present. He lives in Florida now and I live in Ohio so at least I get my own cake and party now.

  • I share my birthday with my dad.  It's always made it a little more special.  Throughout the years we've always tried to do something together to celebrate.  We have not lived within driving distance for 10 years now so it's been fun taking trips to make sure the family is together.
  • My cousin had her daughter on her birthday and although it's special, it's kinda tough too. For years and years the day is all about the kid and my cousin gets all but ignored. She's an adult so it's not like she pouts about it, but it IS nice to have your own day IMO.
  • I would rather not share my birthday lol. My birthday is July 4th and my due date is June 24th so I worry I'm going to be late and be in labor on my bday. That's not how I was looking to spend it this year. Especially since I got him a cute 4th of July outfit I want him to wear. But also with that being said my wedding anniversary is on June 17th and I if I had to choose for LO to come on my anniversary or my bday I would choose my bday.

  • I say no - I mean I wouldn't be upset - but I'd rather LO have its own bday.  My baby is due about 2 weeks after my bday - so there is a chance, but I doubt (s)he will come on that day.
  • I say no.  I already share my bday with MIL (that is always interesting...) and was born on Father's Day as well, so that falls every 7 years.  The Father's Day thing would be cool, but I really want my little girl to have her own day she doesn't have to share with her mom and grandma.

This year, it's my bday, MIL's 60th, and Father's Day all on the same day.  I REALLY hope she doesn't come that day.

  • Happy B-day!

I don't know if I would like it or not.

My B-day is June 24th so it certainly is a possibility.

  • DD's birthday is 3 days before DH's, and it would be nice if they were more like 2-3 weeks apart.  It's not a big deal or anything, but I've noticed sort of an anti-climactic feel to DH's where he doesn't want to do much for his since we *just* celebrated hers (generally still have cake let in the fridge, just went out for a birthday dinner, that sort of thing).

My little sister has a birthday 3 days before mine (7/21) and then I chose to get married on my birthday, so I'm used to sharing my day! Now I'm due on 7/31 and there's a chance that he could come early and I could share it again. Not ideal, but not a big deal either. We're all making bets that he chooses the 21st!
  • My mom could have scheduled her c/s on her b-day (june 8), but instead opted for june 10th. she wanted me to have my own day!

sooo...her b-day is june 8; my step-dad's is june 9; and mine is june 10!

In my case, I think it would be very cool.  My dad and I shared a b-day for 20 years before he passed away.  LO is being named after him.  My b-day is June 29th and my due date is June 28th, so it is possible.
  • Some how all of our kiddos are what we call day stealers lol! Rachel our oldest was born 2 days after her great-grandma's and the day after her aunt's birthday.. So she gets first dibs at a party. Then our son Camden was born 3 days after my birthday, it works for me seeing as I would rather forget my age. Gabriella our youngest came the day before my husband's birthday, so he got kicked down a notch... then Calli is due 6 days before Dh and my wedding anniversary. Since my ob will induce at week 39 without medical reason we plan on doing this, so we can keep at least 1 day for ourselves. lol. If we do this though chances are good that she will be born on/ or a few days before the 4th of July. We will nickname her our firecracker Wink
  • I would not mind it at all, though i'd refer for the LO to cook to full term since I am due Aug 24th and my bday is July 28th. DH is bday is Aug 20th so he would be more likely to share a bday with the new baby.

However I like that we have a chain of bdays in my family. My cousin is the 23rd, aunt the 24th, uncle 25th, grandma 26th, dad 27th and I am the 28th of July! We always had a weekend to weekend party and it rocked. I did not mind that my bday was the last either, I enjoyed all the cake eating for the prior bdays and my parents always let me have something else rather than a cake since we were fed up with sugar by the end... i think one year I had a candle shoved in a calzone!

oh and Happy Day of Birth to you!

  • My due date is the same as my wedding anniversary..... but I have a feeling my LO will absorb that day completely for herself.
  • My due date is only 3 days before my bday so it is very likely for me. I am hoping she arrives a few days early so we can have a week bw. I want us both to have our own special day. However, if she decides to come on my bday it would be a great gift and I wouldn't mind.

  • Happy Birthday! I honestly do not want anyone sharing a birthday with LOs. I remember the cycle we got pregnant telling DH, "If it doesn't happen this month then I want to skip next month - there are too many (family) birthdays in August." Stick out tongue

  • My brother JUST missed (by 56 minutes) being born on my mom's birthday.  My friend's son was born the morning after her birthday.  Both went into labor after having their birthday dinners/cake.  Both say they wouldn't have minded sharing birthdays, but are glad that everyone has their own day.

My due date is actually on my birthday Aug 27th. I really wouldn't mind either way!
