Ok, so my hair is really long right now (past the middle of my back) and is thick and dry.
I have a lot of hair (hairdressers are always suprised by how much, when they get to the blowdrying stage of my appointments) so I usually have a lot of hairfall but, since Samara's been born, it's coming out in handfuls.
It's so bad right now that I can barely get the brush through it, there's so much of it. I'm at the stage where I just want to shave it off, it's that unmanagable. I never wear it down because it would take me too long to style.
So, I'm chopping it tomorrow. Like, shorter than I've had in 15 years. I'm scared. Mummy?!
Any cut recs? I have naturally curly, dry and prone-to-frizz hair. I need a cut that is going to give my hair 'weight' as, being curly and dry, it can tend to 'fluff up' when short. Maybe a long bob?
Re: Mama Cut
I know nothing about specific cuts (and I have very different hair than you.....fine and super-straight), so I can't give any advice, but I will tell you what I usually do.
When I'm ready to make a fairly major change, I simply go somewhere really good, usually recommended to me by someone who has similar-type hair (don't be afraid to ask people on the street...they usually are flattered and love it!), and often pretty expensive (I don't mean you have to spend $100, but maybe not the $7.99 places for a big change like this). I hate to spend on haircuts, but will if it's a big change, as it's then worth it, somehow!
Anyway, once I've found where/who to go....I completely trust them! I know this isn't for everyone. But I figure they are the pros, and as long as they know how to work with my type of hair well, then I trust them to make the best style for me. And it always works, may hair always turns out great when I trust the pros! The only thing I do is give them the two basic rules....never shorter than my ears, and never, ever bangs (they just don't work for me).
After all, if you hate it....it's only hair!
Thanks girls!
Well, I went and chopped it off! It's a layered bob, sits on top of my shoulders. Feels MUCH healthier and lighter on my head.
Yay for feeling like a new woman!
