Nosebleed

So, I had a small nosebleed in the middle of the night last night.  I used to get them some in high school, but I can count on my hands how many I've had in my life.  I know we have extra blood pumping through us now, but I don't remember reading about this as a symptom anywhere (I don't remember a lot of things now lol).  I'm not concerned about it, but just curious if anyone else has had one.

Re: Nosebleed

  • I've never actually had one in my whole life, so I would be concerned if it was me!  But, I think I do remember reading that the increased blood flow can lead to this, but I'm not home to look it up in the book.  Is the air in your bedroom very dry?

  • Ps. I googled "nosebleed and pregnancy" and everything that comes up (a lot) says its perfectly normal! :) No worries!
  • yup totally normal. increased blood flow and increases sinus pressure (from all the lovely fluid retention) makes for nose bleeds as a pretty common symptom especially if you're in hvac controlled areas such as offices etc that tend to be really dry. you can try drinking more water (I know that is what is said for EVERYTHING but it's really true) and even try a Q tip with a lil vaseline on it to prevent nasal dryness especially at night.?
  • Awesome!  Thanks ladies.  My DH has never had one either so I think it freaked him out a little.  We have fans running, so I'd say the air is pretty dry.  I keep water by my bed and I stay thirsty all night but I also get up to pee once or twice a night, so I try not to drink too much during the night.  The tradeoffs lol.
