Update : Could Save Your Babies Life

[A very well known family in our community found their 22 month old son unconscious, his father administered CPR, and he is now fighting for his life.

We all know the dangers of cords from window blinds, but sometimes we forget things. His crib was close enough to the cord that he reached it and while playing with it (family thought he was napping) got it wrapped around his neck and it tightened.

Please make sure your cribs are out of reach from your cord blinds, its such a sad story :( ]

This little boy passed away last night. please please make sure your cords are up and safely away from LO's crib.

    UGH! I heard about this but didn't know he passed away last night. They will be in my Ts&Ps. Sooooo sad.

    This breaks my heart!  I feel so bad for that family.  The guilt they must feel, even though it could have happened to anyone.  Thank you for the reminder...I'm just glad our house doesn't have any long cords like that!

    Oh that is so sad :( I can't imagine what that family must be going through. 
     
    We already have all of our window blind cords out of reach because our cats have gotten tangled in them while playing with them before -- good idea to post this reminder though!

    That is so sad and unfortunate.  But, isn't this like Rule #1 when trying to figure out where you place the crib?

    It should be. But some rooms are laid out funny and/or have more than window. It could have been the only place for the crib.

    So sad. Definitely a lesson for all of us. Not just in the baby's room, but all over the house, especially when they are older and get into trouble very quickly when you turn your back for a second.

    In the same vein... make sure your monitor is out of reach of the crib as well.  Monitor cords are also strangulation hazards that people kind of forget about.

    This. DS Crib is on the opposite side of teh room from the window.
