I mostly lurk, but asked a couple questions awhile back about taking a 4 month old to New Zealand. We're back from the trip, and it was awesome - I definitely encourage people to travel with babies that age. She slept almost the whole way on both long flights. She napped in the car while driving around the country, and loved walking around looking at things and hiking. There was virtually no problem at all with the time change.
I felt too guilty to use disposables, so we brought our cloth diapers. I had to do laundry about 4 times, but it wasn't bad at all - we just stayed in a campground (had a campervan) with machines and I did them at night or in the morning. We brought a package of 40 disposable diapers, and used maybe a third of them. We also brought a baby bjorn little potty (we're trying EC) and that was really a good idea and saved us a lot of diapers.
We brought the sleepy wrap, a gypsy mama short wrap, and a bebo, which was perfect (no stroller). The sleepy wrap is definitely her favorite, although it did get pretty dirty.
So thanks for the advice - I'm really glad things turned out well and can't wait to travel with her again.
Re: intl travel with baby and CDs a success!
The Sleepy Wrap is like the moby, but way better (imo). it's stretchier, so easier to tie and stays more secure for me.
