So I wasn't imagining that my boobs are bigger

I know Victoria's Secret runs small, but most of my bras are from there, and I'm usually a 34/36C.

After our lunch plans fell through, I went shopping, since VS was having a sale, I tried on a 34D. I was almost embarrassed to go in the dressing room, thinking it would obviously be too big, and that the sales girls would be like: Hmm does she really think that will fit?! But instead it was too small!! I tried 36D and that was too loose around my ribcage so I had to get 34DD!

I cannot believe it because I haven't gained any weight yet. DH was not surprised, he has totally noticed. No wonder the poor girls were so sore! The bigger size felt so comfortable I just wanted to wear it out of the store.

Hm.  I wear a 34C right now (okay, I *may* be overflowing a teeny bit).  I'm all confused on how to measure.  Using the "under the boob" method, the web says 34DD (um, no).  Using the "above the boob" method, the web says 36D.

I think I need to go to a good store and get measured.  Has anyone ever done this?

and apparently some websites tell you to randomly add 4 or 5 inches to the band size.  gah?

  • Vicky's sells DD's?

I havent' been to one in years.  Their D selection is either pretty sparse, or doesn't have much in the way of padding or has way too much (like wonderbra too much).  I've got some serious nipola action going on (hell, even before pg) so I need me some decent padding.

I end up getting the fuglies at the department store.  Soma also has the occasional bra blitz sale, so I bought two last time that really are fabulous bras.  Soma has someone that can measure too and will at least tell you even when measured to try on anyway.

According to the measurement and calculator things, 34DD or 34E (Indifferent) is right for me. I think the cups get bigger with the rib cage width though, right, like the cup on a 32C < a 38C? I just don't feel like I'm that big.

I was just like you with spilling out of my 34C, mainly at the top and sides, and thinking it wasn't that bad. Trust me, go try a bigger one, it was amazingly comfortable. You'll be much happier!

These are a few of the online calculators I tried: Motherhood Maternity, International Bra Size Calculator.

do they measure you with a bra already on?  or braless?  because the stores i've been in measure you while wearing a bra, and i can't help but wonder how useful that could possibly be...

Only in the clearance section, and they were hard to find, definitely not cute ones either. They're boring, full coverage with big straps and all, but soooo comfortable I'm thrilled. I looked around the store and a lot of their styles don't come that big. We just got a Soma in our mall, I'll have to check it out if things keep growing!!

yeah, so, motherhood maternity thinks i need a 38B.  WTF?  How wide are my RIBS?

ETA: The international calc says 38D.  Thirty EIGHT?  For serious?  I can barely even fathom how large a 38D bra is.

Well truth be known, mine haven't either too much.  The growth spurt (which was just an upgrade from a D to a DD) was from last pg that never really shrank back down.

Well, your ribcage does expand during pregnancy! I feel like none of the measurements matter until you try on the specific style and brand. Like clothes, they are all going to vary and you won't know until you go in. But I wouldn't have even had the nerve to try a D cup if the online calculators hadn't said DD.

My 34B's are starting to spill out the top of my bra. DH swears he doesn't notice a difference, but if I make a wrong move my boobie pops out of my bra completely. You'll get there Chupie! Mine finally caught up this past week.

    Mine either.  Sad

At least not enough to have to buy another bra....  (They are a bit harder tho?)

  • I've been measure and Nordstrom and you'd be shocked what you actually fit into....I always wore a 34B and they put me in a 32C and it felt 10x better.  This was when I wasn't pregnant....there are a few sizes you can get your boobs into :)

They told me when the rib bad gets smaller the cup size changes too...so even though the 34B fit me good the 32C fit me better and I am no where near a C in my head...not even close!!
