Hocking Hills vs Murphin Ridge

For Fathers Day I would like to get DH and DD away for a night or two.  It needs to be something within 2 hours.  I was thinking about either Murphin Ridge in Adams County or Hocking Hills.  We have never been to either place.  I am thinking if we go to Hocking Hills we might be able to find a cabin that takes dogs.  It would be nice to have them pack the babies things if we hike, LOL.   Any other suggestions?  I also need the names of good places to rent cabins from in Hocking Hills.  Thanks!!

Re: Hocking Hills vs Murphin Ridge

  • I love Murphin Ridge but I don't think it is very kid friendly. It's more of a romantic get-a-way type of place.

We go to Cowan Lake every fall and stay in the cabins.  It is very relaxing.  There is not much to do but hike and enjoy nature.

  • We went to Hocking Hills this weekend for the second time in a couple years. The place we stayed was the Inn at Cedar Falls and I think it's comparable in price to Murphin Ridge.  (Definitely geared more towards couples).

But, we spent a lot of time talking about how doable Hocking Hills would be with kids.  You can camp or rent a cabin and cook for yourselves. There are so many cool places to hike there and the waterfalls were amazing after all the rain. I'm not sure what it'll be like by Father's Day, but even without the waterfalls it's a beautiful place!
