Do you miss being pregnant?

Just curious.

I look at PG women and I am not envious, not one bit. Not even when they are in the "comfortable" stages (2nd tri, where you can tell that they're pregnant, but not HUGELY uncomfortable yet)... and yet I remember that when I was PG, people used to tell me that they miss it and they loved it.

Re: Do you miss being pregnant?

  • I'm with you Lori. It was something new and exciting, and it was fun to share the experience with everyone around me, but actually being pregnant... I'd have to say I don't miss that one bit! I want to have more kids in the future (maybe 2 or 3!) and I am not really looking forward to being PG again. I am not dreading it or anything, but now I know that it's not easy. The end result is so worth it though!

Oh, I agree with you 100%. It IS totally worth it, and yet I can't imagine going through it again. We want another one (I think) and even though I had a really easy PG and labor/delivery, I'm still not looking forward to being pregnant.

  • I do miss it sometimes.
  • I dunno...somedays I miss it.  The anticipation, the excitement of what will be...and the inside baby kicks.  But, I do not miss the nausea, the aches, the GD...nope not at all.  I do marvel at how my body created another life (with a little help from DH) and find myself looking forward to doing it again.  Amazing, considering I was so ANTI baby for most of my life...seriously...I never thought I'd ever want to become a mother let alone be pregnant.
  • I miss feeling her kick all the time. she was really active and it was something I really enjoyed

otherwise, i don't miss it at all!

  • I do, partly because I used to get more sleep back then!  I had a really easy pregnancy so it's easy for me to say that I miss it.  I was lucky and only had morning sickness for about a month in the 1st trimester and none of the bloating, lightning crotch, stretch marks, extreme fatigue, sleepless nights, etc. that I know others have had.  I also loved my bump.  For once, I wasn't worrying about a flabby stomach or muffin top and it was nice to just feel comfortable with my pregnant body.  And of course, I miss the kicks and hiccups.  Smile

  • Totally do NOT miss it. Funny, but I think the same thing Lori does when I see PG women... I just look at them and feel like, Hahaha, you have no idea what is in store for you! NO SLEEP! And awesomeness. I also want another but am totally NOT looking forward to being pregnant at all!

  • It's too soon for me to miss it.  I think one day I will, and I think I'll have a new appreciation for what the pregnancy produces.  The first time, it was just too hard to wrap my mind around the fact that we were making a real, live human being.  Now, I get it... and I think that'll be really exciting to have in mind the next time around!

  • Not a smidgen of a hint of a weensy bit. I was so uncomfortable so early in my pregnancy (I measured 40 weeks at around 28 weeks) that I simply couldn't physically enjoy myself. I know carrying twins is very different, but no, I don't miss it.

All of this said, sometimes I miss the easiness of that period. Don't get me wrong, my pregnancy was extremely difficult and SUCKED. But in terms of being able to go where I wanted, when I wanted, without wrangling two kids or timing everything around a schedule of "quick, they've eaten, get them in the car NOW!"...that freedom, I suppose.

  • not really, but the excitement of growing a baby and feeling kicks and hiccups is awesome.  I look forward to doing it again (and maybe again) and after we are done having kids I know I will be really sad.  I doubt we will ever find out the gender so I think that adds another bit of anticipation that I miss in a way - it's hard to explain.  Now that I have met Jack I absolutely love him, the anticipation during pregnancy of guessing what our baby might be like is so fun.
  • I don't really miss it, I actually hadn't thought about it until this post.

I do miss the kicks, the hiccups and the anticipation, guessing what he/she would look like and who she would be.  I had a really good pregnancy and I'm looking forward to being pregnant again.  But I don't see pregnant women and long to be pregnant right now.

I liked my body while I was pregnant.  I would like to be late in my second trimester next summer so that I can rock my bikini and bump at the lake.  Last summer I was 4-5 months pregnant and I just looked like I had drank too much beer.
