First ultrasound won't be until 20weeks

Anyone else have to wait this long? I was hoping I would have it at my first appointment 5/17. The doctor did confirm that my uterus was about 8 weeks so that made me feel more comfortable. I will get to hear the heart beat at 12 weeks when I go in next. They use something they call the doppler that picks up the babies heartbeat. I can't wait. It seems so long to have to wait 20 weeks to see my little baby.

    That is actually pretty standard.  My practice does a 12 week NT scans when insurance covers that (many don't).  The only reason I am having an u/s at 7 weeks is because I had a loss in Feb. 

    I ended up having 5 u/s with DD (12 week and 20, plus 3 additional due to spotting and illness).

    I'm not getting a u/s until later either, I'll probably get one at 18 weeks, but that is still a long way off, especially considering I have had a loss before.
